The mechanic just to con you for their profit, it doesn't matters that you are using fully synthethic or semi synthethic. Actually semi synthethic is good enough, just that you need to service your car regularly. If you can maintain service your car every 5000 km, then your engine will be take care nicely. Service every 10k interval for me consider not that good. Just for example, the oil will getting thicker and darker, how thick it will be if you reach 10k only service your car? Is better that you service your car more frequent then get the best oil but service in double of the time. cheers...
*
unfortunately they do not offer semi synthetic. only mineral and fully synthetic.
i've use mineral before for vios.. the engine performance dropped like hell. its up to personal choice. do you have any document to support your claim or simply giving out your opinion and hope others to agree with you?
tongue.gif

if got semi synthetic of course have more option for customers.. but bear in mind that double service (twice 5K service) for semi, the charges will be more than fully (10K service).

coz i've compared mineral services charge is equal or slightly less to fully synthetic charges (for major services and normal services after 1 year)

Actually is not an opinion that need agreement from other people, is just my personal experience when i service my current ride. I did service it in every 5k and I'm using semi synthetic oil. I had a few times try to push the limit up to 7k then only change the engine oil, I can see the performance of my car is really dropping at the range of 6k - 7k. Document? sorry that I don't have. Just to share my personal experience.  smile.gif
*
hahaha.. your's is using semi and performance dropped at 6 ~ 7K. if fully of course it will be different.. maybe the performance only dropped at 8 ~ 9K? have you try fully synthetic and the performance dropped at the same level (6 ~ 7K)? my gf's vios use fully synthetic and no issue on performance at 8K out of 10K now.. tongue.gif

the underpower of Forte is felt when climbing even small hill..  hmm.gif  FC rating increased when pressed harder on the pedal (of course!).. i climbed Bukit Brinchang (Cameron Highlands) before with my old wira.. dun think Forte can take that  sweat.gif
But i did achieved 6.2L/100km on DUKE last night  rclxms.gif .. straight way with few cars, so... hehe...  tongue.gif
*
yes. you'll feel the underpower when travelling at hilly road. but you must absorb the FC pain la. use the shiftronic function and you can gain control the power.
try use the "instant" display and train your foot not to exceed 10L level for most of the driving time.

I just checked the website http://www.forte.my/ and notice the maintainence cost not really that cheap. About same price and sometimes exceed the service charge for Accord at Honda dealer.
*
dude.. the only lower service charge for honda is on 1st service. other than that almost the same and mostly higher than forte.
why compare to accord? should only compare to civic. and the charges also not lower than kia. doh.gif only 1st service lower then claim honda cheaper than kia?

in the websites, both pricing also use mineral. and please take note for fully synthetic the price is higher (for forte)

Regarding the first 3 service at 1k, 5k & 10k for Forte, the labour is free right? Got situation here...if we use fully synthetic engine oil at 1k service, the next service intervals (10k) the labour should also be free right. Let say we still using fully synthetic engine oil at 10k service, the next (3rd) service is at 20k, the labour is still free or not?

Is it the service charge is the same for 1.6 & 2.0?
*
for mineral... 1K, 5K and 10K services are free from labor charges

for fully synthetic.. 1K, 10K and 20K services.. (FOC on labor)

i believe the labor charges for 1.6 and 2.0 is the same.

I went there and well no ones care to come talk to me when i am viewing the car, eventho i am very genuine to put a deposit. So i took the first step to speak with the SA there and i asked for a trade in price for my old CRV (yr 96). Promised to get back to me by evening for the price and scheduled a meet up to confirmed the trade in price, but i nv got any called back. This goes same to the Jalan Genting Klang branch SA, nv comes back to me on the trade-in-price.

I went to another showroom, was served well and the trade in price is at the range I desire. But things gone down the drain when the 2nd car reseller said if i dont have the AP cert of my old CRV, he need to deduct 1500-2000 from the CRV selling price. My CRV  is a JPN Recon car, and last time my family bought it with cash, as such I only have the JPJ cert and dont have the AP cert as said by him. Is there such thing?
*
yup. you'll have trouble if you dont have the AP cert. usually bank will have the original and copy kept by us (if purchased by loan). for cash purchase maybe you need to check with the car dealer.

This is really absurd, why only the Penang (Macalister Road and Juru) Sales Branches are charging this RM150!!!

Please call careline to file your complaint and hopefully HQ will take action ASAP to stop this unfair treatment and take stern action against those who are profiting from the RM150!!!  mad.gif  vmad.gif  mad.gif  vmad.gif

no need to pay them for runner fee. that is their problem and not us.
and yes please report to careline. hopefully for those paid can get their money back.

TQ 4 your clarifications smile.gif

Ok..the labor charges is the same for 1.6 & 2.0. What about charges for parts..maybe got slight different right? i.e 1.6 uses hydraulic steering (from time to time will need to refill or flush the hydraulic fluid), while 2.0 uses motor-driven power steering (no hydraulic fluid).
*
the service charge list maybe for 1.6 only
for 2.0 maybe different a bit like what you've said.
currently no 2.0 on the road, so.. maybe they don't publish the service charge list yet.

shamsul.. you can check the temp at your odometer panel. toggle the "info" button.

hello all.. i've just came back from 1st service at puchong.. overall experience so so only.. they need 3 times align and test drive my car. but i still feel the prob has not been resolved yet.

about the performance. i dunno la.. likes never change the oil.. is it normal? kinda heavy. just hope they really change the engine oil..

and for 2.0.. i've another story to share.. ok like this..
my SA had received information that the fastest can get the car is on january. but again they stick to their previous statement coz dont want overpromise.

and for first batch 2.0, all of them for langkawi market becoz they have problem with custom. for 1.6 they dont have problem coz price structure they just follow spetra.

in langkawi they dont have duty import tax. dunno how naza will resolve this prob with custom for peninsular and east malaysia.

but for sure the car price in 2010 will be increased due to increased in excise duty.. coz duty import will be decreased (gov action to encounter afta and to protect proton)

and for those who book now, they don't promise can give previous price. except for those who have the car allocated (deposit + dpayment + loan approved).

i just share this story. not to make things worst. but you should expect the worst if the car price really increased on next year. cheers

Hi,

That is what I heard too. There were some 2.0 first batch initially, but due to the price too low, our govt. not allow the car to land in m'sia. So, they quickly sent them over to langkawi.

But, weird thing is: till now there is no langkawian fella update us on 2.0 at all. Langkawi cannot on line? hahahahahahahaa
*
who want to buy forte if you have other choice coz no tax? hahaha.
if pakcik makcik buy also they won't online ma.. hehe
or maybe they hold the car.

thats the problem. price in CKD but the car is CBU. thats why KiaMalaysia FB always insist car is CKD. in "geran" state "kereta import baru" (means CBU) 1.6 already have CKD price based on spectra. but not 2.0

hmmm.. by the way my windscreen got "dirt". dunno whether it is a scratch or really just a dirt. didn't notice when collect the car but it still remain even after wash the car. will upload pics later if the dirt is really scratch.. sweat.gif

QUOTE(bbear @ Dec 25 2009, 10:29 AM)
yesterday, i had a flat tire on my current car. when fixing it, i told the mechanic that just repairs it and I don't want to change tire ( my tires are 3 years + old .. actually should change already ) as i want to change car already.

The uncle asked me what car I am changing to.. and I told him Korean car.. immediately, the uncle face changed and started to educated me never buy a Korean car.. I will regret this regret that.. all the "usual bad things about Korean cars" came out..

I tried to convince him this is a new car.. new technology.. new era but then i gave up educating him.. and remain silence.

Hopes in near future.. Mechanics will change perception about Korean cars.. and in returns recommending their customers to get a Korean car when someone asking them for suggestions.  We put high hope on this Forte.. and hopes it does not let us down. Some time still worry that I put the wrong bet.
*
me too.. icon_rolleyes.gif
worst thing is my colleague said that korean car sucks (when i show her forte pics).. but the best thing is she never own one and she only know based on hearsay.
when i counter back her claim.. then she speechless. and i advice her not to talk bad things/spread rumors without facts. hahaha. one down and many more doubters that need to be educated. hopefully forte can change malaysian's perception about korean's car.
