Hi,

I'm just wondering what is the better solution for cpu cooling? water cool or air cool.

Maybe

Prolimatech or 212+ with good air flow [2 fans above 200 cfm on both]

or

Water cooling product

Don't care about the price wise or anything. Just want to know the performance on each side as in celcius and not loud or not and etc etc. Just purely performance.

and if water cooling is better than air cool... how about the set of product that can make water cool really good as in SET.

like a+b+c = good water cool setup.

once again money is not an object. Just the performance wise.

Correct me in anything if I'm wrong. Still learning on better cooling and I'm sure other people also might want to know the answer.

Specifically on i7 core brows.gif

Thanks in advance to whoever reply this thread with an answers notworthy.gif

it is without a doubt watercooling. but you have to be willing to fork out 3 - 4 times as much.not to mention upkeeping the watercooling loop.

If you want gaya and you dont mind spending money, then do water cooling.
If not, Megashadow + 2 Delta fans

So how much is the difference in the area of performance between air cool and water cool?

Could anyone do like some research? or at least post on same test bed and maybe 1 from air cool and 1 from water cool?

Because when I search via google, I always found something that is rather confusing because for example sometimes

212+ are more efficient from Megahalem and sometimes the other reviews shows the megahalem exceed 212+

I'm kinda confused by these reviews. So here I am searching for genuine review.

What I want to know?

1.Best water cool setup
2.Maybe the difference interm of performance between air cool and water cool.
3.Maybe differenciate between celcius? which is better?

1.Best water cool setup
- Go for custom watercooling, if you want more extreme go for watercooling chiller setup!~

2.Maybe the difference interm of performance between air cool and water
cool.
- Watercooling is always silence than air cooler. WC performance always better compared to air cooler. Check out extremesystem.org and you can refer some result overthere.

3.Maybe differentiate between celcius? which is better?
- Of course WC is better. maybe 10 degrees or 20 degrees better than high end air cooling if you get the right combination + suitable loops for watercooling. biggrin.gif

Thanks alot for the answers,

may I ask where can I get info on which combination is good, I mean like a website something like that? I mean I'm really newb in water cooling...whole life depend on just stock cooler that comes with the cpu itself.....

once again thanks alot for the answers notworthy.gif

How about this combo

1.Thermaltake speedo advance package
2. Prolimatech x2 delta fan

since thermaltake speedo advance package got a fan on the other side aswell

Different sites may be testing under different conditions.
Like room temperatures and so on, you don't expect the same cooling you'll get running in Malaysia and then compare to the US in winter time.

That just won't work.

Different way of setting up the system is also another part of the review.
The main point is, collect the all the reviews from 212+ and Megashadow and see of yourself most of the time which cooler comes out first.... and Megashadow it is.

Well, I live in a noisy environment and yes I knew about the "loudness" of fan and trust me, I'm not gonna be annoyed by it hahaha

Added on December 16, 2009, 6:35 pmHow about Aquagate Max vs. Prolimatech?

It's known that bigger thicker radiators require higher speed fans for the air pressure needed to blow out hot air.

Some correction, thicker radiator does not means require higher rpm fan. Its all about the Fins Per Inch, the more fins the more air flow restrictive the radiator are.

Radiator generally divide into 2 type, High FPI type and Low FPI type.

For High FPI type, you require high RPM fan and high pressure fan. eg. Black Ice GTX, Black Ice GT ( One of the slimmest radiator yet need high RPM fan to perform well due to super high FPI ).

The BIX 360 basically outperform any brand of radiator in the market if paired with high speed fan, eg, 3000rpm San Aces etc...

For Low FPI type, low rpm perform well on this kind of radiator, you don't need high RPM fans for it. Low FPI radiator normally come with thicker size to cover the lack of cooling surface weakness due to lesser fins. Eg. Feser XChanger, Black Ice SR-1 series.

These radiator do very well with 1200-1500 rpm fans, but could be outperformed by an high dense fins radiator with super fan...

Hence, if you wan performance and don't mind about noise, definitely High FPI radiator to go.

But if you want high performance yet silent setup, go for Low FPI setup.

The RX series of XSPC perform well with fan less than 1k rpm.

* about the coolant, if using coolant, normally we will get white clouding gunk in the tubings over time. But unless suffering performance drop, its also almost as same as distilled water, which means we must check or maintain our loop over time. If no performance drop occur, i see no point to dismantle everything if using coolants, just top up if coolants level dropped.

Oh ya, moogle stated arer correct, using silver coil + distilled water is one of the cheaper and good solution...

I suggest you head over to Worklogs forum. Just copy any of the watercool setups, and you are good to go!

Consult Clawhammer if you need help with the parts smile.gif

custom liquid cooling FTW !!!

Swiftech Apogee XT + 1/2 inch tygon pipes + full copper dual 120mm rad + swiftech most powerful pump + any suitable reservoir + 120mm fan + right coolant and water mixture

trash the hell out of aquagate max

Added on December 19, 2009, 2:38 pmoh... you can also run this setup fanless if you are not using high FPI rads
my friend tried fanless on his 920 cooled by dual 120mm rad and his temp is really good biggrin.gif

and setup could cost more thank 1k if you get all brand new (since you said budget is none of your concern)

most part you can get from Clawhammer biggrin.gif
