Hi, I am newbie here. I am in Australia and I want to buy a lens from Yamiya.com.my and send it to my friend who are now in Malaysia for holiday. He will come back to Australia next month. I would like to ask your experiences dealt with this online shop. Any experiences good or bad would be appreciated :-)

Thanks
Arief

Dear Arief,

Why not ask your friend purchase directly from local malaysia shop instead. It might be cheaper that way and can reduce shiping cost as well.

Some of the items at Yamiya is quite cheap, I bought once from them before, great service I should say(the item delivered is not the same as what i have seen, they refunded the postage fees to me and send another one).. I just bought a Nikon D5000 kit there for only RM2792(with 4GB SDHC+bag) which i think is a steal lol

Thanks C.P.U for your reply. I will pay it by credit card from here (Australia) since my friend does not have enough money to buy that lens. I think it will be free for shipping cost within Malaysia.

cheers,

I bought some stuff with them before. Quick postage but lousy customer service. It was as if I owe them some money. Terrible experience. I will never buy from them anymore.

However, they are reliable.

Thanks jdreamer,

Does Yamiya have a good reputation as a brick and mortar shop in Malaysia? Me and my Malaysian friend have no experience with them. I am still waiting for more comments before making the purchase since it is a bit expensive lens ( around AU$ 2,000).

I've bought a few things from Yamiya before and for items above MYR 50, it will be a free delivery shipment. Pretty good services too except for once when they had given me the wrong parcel but all was replaced in a short amount of time.

i think if you purchase above rm100, its free of postage.. i bought once before from them, delivery is fast.. and item is good as describe... actually before purchasing, i did email them to ask abt payment using credit card..cos it stated that "2.Purchase limit to RM1000 only (not including shipping cost)." but no reply from them at all..so not sure wat is that clause mean actually.. maybe u need to check first before you place the order. from this, i think they customer service a bit poor.

VERY BAD SERVICE...Fully recommended Shashinki rather Yamiya. Rude and lousy customer service really turned me off even after I spent more than RM5k with them before... sad.gif

My case was that I emailed them regarding my payment and then, the person in charge called and scolded me, and warned me not to email them after paying because they have this so-called system that will work automatically. I was a bit shocked with the call but my item arrived 2 days later. I do also recommend Shashinki over Yamiya. Close price various but much better customer service.

Must ask b4 buy from them , last time i bought a camera ,it shld come with M.zuiko 14-42mm II R , but instead of that they gave me 14-42mm EZ , the difference is huge for me . They gave me the reason , their supplier didnt update the price list for them ,i cant get an exchange but refund (no point at all )

It looked like ,they forget to update the price ,yet i ordered the camera with old price then changed my order without even asking me .
I would recommend ShaShinKi for reliability ,their price are few bucks difference only.
