I was told to use a magnet whenever I want to buy silver. A pure silver it will NOT stick. If it sticks, the it's a mixture of maybe copper.

If you're asking for the quality of a silver coin or bar, sorry I've no idea.

hai, can i know where can purchase silver bar?

thx
*
if you've decided to buy silver bar, i'd suggest to buy 1 oz of silvertowne, sunshine, etc. Don't buy big bar like 250g and so on. Go small first for beginners. I think Goldchan is selling silver bars at egay but in a stack of 20.

But preferable coins. This evening I just bought a tube of maple coins, so bling-bling

I wanna do both. So how?

frankly just buy, don't hesitate. follow your gut feeling. That's what happened to me when I bought gold.

when i bought at RM80+ i was so scared i bought only 10g. Then it goes up. Look at the price today. Early this year I bought at RM140 another 10g. wanted to buy 30g but scared it will go down. look at the price again today.

my 2 cents only

may i know who selling cheaper rate for canadian maple leaf coin or america eagle leaf?   RM150 for a coin isn't too high premium??
*
per piece rm150 is the cheapest I've checked. per tube can get a bit lower, maybe rm148. both are at current silver spot price. if next week goes up (and it will, ho ho ho ), then the price will goes up too. frankly after in depth research for local silver coins/bars seller, i'd say there're only handful.

in my humble opinion, our malaysian market is being manipulated by public gold dealers, gold as well as silver. they promise everyone the sky whomever buys from them. the company spends million on advertising and promotion to promote their bars which the smallest is 250g. some of you may want to buy it but most won't especially newbies. so, coins are the best choice.

Waiting for GoldChan to reply...  notworthy.gif sagely advice indeed.

Standup seller.  thumbup.gif I'm a customer of his too nod.gif

I'd rate myself between first and second stage. By accident and limited sales experience  laugh.gif

Sold several coins, including the 2011 silver Panda I purchased from GoldChan.

My latest sale 2010 Silver Panda, sold for RM250. Actual coin can be looked up here:-

http://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/CertResu...ber=2764663-008

Reason for selling because needed extra cash for 1987 5oz Silver Giant Panda.
May I know how much did you sell off your panda? Your opinion, what's the demand here in malaysia?

to all newbies who are scared to buy,

what's holding you back. if you can share I'm sure everyone here can assist you but first we need to know what's your concern. remember there's no guarantee here. i'm sure everyone here including me is taking the risk. recently i bought coins worth 7K but i want COD. i meet the seller at agreed location and the transaction went smoothly.

if you worried about fake coins i believe not many fake silvers coin circulating. to play safe, bring along a magnet. if it's trust issue, no one can predict. even families play each other out. when you buy COD trust is not an issue. the exchange is done on the spot. get the coins then pay the seller and done.

this is my 2 cents contribution.

goldchan,

sori to hear about your capital being stuck, looking forward to deal with you.

last but not least,

the downtrend has eased for today, wishing it stays that way.

If you guys had enough money to buy either 1 oz. of silver every month or 1 gram of gold every month. Which would you choose for fast investment and to make quick money?
*
In my humble opinion, there's no way for fast investment and to make quick money with gold and silver. If you want quick cash, you may want to try future silver trading. FYI you'll get quick burn, too.

Buy both and keep till end of the year. Follow what the chinese do, even i'm a malay.

While waiting, keep on with your daily life. Maybe you could do some physical trading in gold/silver just like lots of people are doing right now. You profit from the spread. The more you trade the more money you make. The most aggressive ones are publicgold which i don't advice at all.

I have only been able to order from their website at www.scottsdalesilver.com
Would really like to buy locally from a dealer online or at store.
If anyone comes across some anywhere locally please PM me!!

To-date, I've not come across dealers selling scottsdale locally.

If it's savings cum investment, any "chop" will do, preferably coins, unless it's a personal collection.

I took a bold step by buying 5K coins bcos I confident the coins do you "wonders" regardless up or down. I try to collect one chop each and it's still not complete yet. The rest goes to eagles and maples.

BTW, what's the story behind scottsdale?

metal trading :- margin is small, but transaction is big. It will raise the eyes of LHDN.
For small volume it may not worth the effort but by law it is required on you to do tax return.

Thus, you should report it lah. Further reading is here.

You decide what U 1 2 to b4 U proceed. I already got myself too excited last time and whole body wet, got to do income tax return.

Good advice Gloldchan.

Even your whole body is wet, I'm sure you're laughing all the way to the bank, aren't you?

Are you planning to dry off your body right now or make it wetter?

i have bought gold from them, not silver.

i have bot silver but never been taxed.

i received my coins after a week. Yes if you buy from Gainsville, i has to be in bulk.
Even if you are taxed, it is similar to that site for silver eagles. Cheaper still for philharmonics.

Eagles: Rm2385 + shipping 240 + tax394 = Rm3,019
So its not much more expensive as you have indicated......  brows.gif

So the risk is you get them 15% cheaper!
*
i managed to get the eagles at $2900 from malaysia without going through all the "hassle" and worrying and enjoyed a cup of teh tarik during the transaction.

i'd say it all depends on one's priority and comfort zone

The stacking is beginning.... I will post pictures as soon as I get them, can't wait!

i managed to get 10 pieces of scottsdale 1oz for $1400 here locally. I've check the scottsdale website today at US$392.99 excluding shipping. Looks like not much difference but I get it on the same day (COD),. Yes, it's still up to individual liking of getting the silver.

BTW what's the postage?

When i buy silver from overseas, its more for the numis value, ie a collection rather than pure bullions.
Maybe thats why they dont attract tax duties.
i dont 'invest' in silver bullions. i believe when the cr*p starts to happen in the financial world,
silver will be viewed as a commodity whereas gold will be a safe haven Currency.

i do however, invest in papaer silver for trading purposes....

Plus the fact, gold shines brighter than silver!  biggrin.gif

If you can get it cheaper in Malaysia, then do that by all means.
Care to share where you got that?
*
i bought them when the spot was below $34. now i may not get that price unless the spot comes down again.

says like I got RM3k to burn, silver bar shall I go for?
*
personal opinion, go for coins, buy in tubes cos it's much cheaper that singles. top up a bit on your 3k for 1 eagles tube.

some people including me get carried away with the beauty of the coins so they want to buy all types. i researched everywhere and the conclusion is for savings cum investment get these 3 - maples, eagles and philis - bcos being legal tender and government issued and backed with a face value and cheaper than other coins.

if you want to decorate your house wall then you can get the expensive ones like panda, kookaburra, etc.

silver bars - no idea but i do have scottsdale bars for collection purpose and tend to get one each in the process.

p.s. correct me if i'm wrong, silver bars has a purity of.999 fine silver but it is not government backed and has no legal tender status. this is the reason i go for coins.

only through website & internet purchase? no retails?

contact through online but do a COD. i did that.

yes some are out of klang valley, they mail thru poslaju and need to pay for it.

i can point you to some but you have to decide on your own. i'm totally not responsible.

remember price has shot up for the past 7 days.

if you want bars, go to Goldchan. he's on this thread.
