QUOTE
Description: Beware of Sharks is a Team Movie featuring Sharks With Lasers pitted against various Malaysian and Asian CoD4 Promod teams. It includes frag clips from various local LAN events all the way up to the recent 2nd season of the online, community-run Asian Call of Duty 4 Championship (ACC2) in which 46 teams from all across the continent participated in.

This is my first serious movie project and I had to learn Premiere (not touching it again oh God), and After Effects while making up stuff on the fly. In my childish obstinacy I also insisted on using my own movie cfg built from the ground up so I'm sorry<3 for things which I realized later but had no time to fix like not disabling crosshair, enemy player names, and "Press A to autoclimb" (don't ask)

Inspiration for the style of the movie came from, among other things, Max Payne, DJMAX, 16-bit console emulation, and a bet that I could use only Impact in an entire 6+ minute movie and get away with it. (The comic book font doesn't count!)

A short clip of footage from Werner Mehl's 1 million FPS bullet impact montage was used, all credit for it goes to Werner Mehl.

Stats: 1280x720x50fps, 200fps avide... fraps
Uncompressed size: 55GB
Project folder size: 446GB (again, don't ask)
Work time: Sept-Dec 2009 because I'm a lazy ass, majority of it in the last 3 weeks or so.

Starring: Grr, flaveR, pr8sh, aStro, kLavieR, Squirtle, XioN, VickS, ZoK

Programs used: Fraps, Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Paint Shop Pro 6, Adobe Audition, Cakewalk Sonar, VirtualDub, MeGUI.

Songs used: Croove - Outlaw, Syriana - Bexter, Zet - Bexter

Game: Call of Duty 4
Sort of Movie: team fragmovie
Length: 6:47
Size: 387 MB
Codec: x264
Produced by: Falk

Got a youtube version? That's too much of a download required for my poor wireless.

Youtube is being suspiciously homoerotic and attempting to play back at 1/2 speed again, meaning after processing it just deletes the video for being >10min (it's obviously not lol)

I'm trying to figure out what exactly triggers this behavior, and failing that experimenting with exporting a x2 speed youtube-specific render to see if 2 x 1/2 = 1.

Wipido works fine as a stream though! Just a little slow in transfer speeds to Asia.

Then perhaps your computer can't handle HD videos. Maybe you want to try closing all other programs or something.

In the meantime, slightly less than HD: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIS8HDnxeOw

What media player are you using, out of curiousity?

HD vids, ironically enough, don't even play consistently on the exact same machine I used to produce the frag movie from start to end. I copy drafts to a macbook to view. -___-

Try some other really high-bitrate movies. I'm curious to know if it's indeed a bitrate/bottleneck problem or it's specific to encoding settings I used.

http://www.tek-9.org/cinema/Trapped_Inside-261.html This one would do.

youtube > me

Gonna try copying the 54GB uncompressed to a mac and exporting with quicktime to mov and uploading that. If youtube wants to be shit it deserves an upload in a shit format.

The uncompressed complete movie is is 54gb since reso x fps x length in secs x bit depth is 1280*720*50*((6*60)+47)*3 = 56263680000.

Obviously the .mov export will be smaller (~400mb as well) and if I'm not wrong Youtube 'HD' (lol) runs at approx 2500kbps, or 10min movie = approx. 200mb

How so? This Youtube HD stream is ~2500kbps. Other Youtube HD streams are also ~2500kbps. (Because Youtube HD isn't actually all that HD)

2500 kbps = 2.5 Mbps. If you have a constant, stable, low-latency, zero-packet loss 2.5Mbps connection, you're pretty good as far as local broadband is concerned smile.gif

Incidentally, where are you and how much does your 2.5 Mbps connection cost?

use Media Player Classic with KLM Codecs.

Works fine for me. XP has this stupid 99% system idle process bug or whatever that makes videos run shit on the normal media player. U could have a ram bottle neck too i guess?

I learnt everything on the fly. And I refuse to touch Premiere ever again just because of the acrobatics I had to do to get my 200fps footage downsampled to 50fps project the way I wanted (i.e. not a blurry mess that Premiere insists on producing)

I basically just made it a point to watch 1-2 tutorial vids a day. Plus a load of common sense, I guess.
