so does that mean that even if i didn't subscribe to the movie package I still get HBO HD until april ?????  thumbup.gif

I have not subscribed to the movie package and I am UNABLE to view HBO HD on ch 431.
However, I can view NatGeo & History HD as the learning package is in my subcsription.

Verdict: No subscription, no viewing

Hi..

I already install Astro Byond at my house yesterday..

So far, picture quality in HD channels are superb even the HDMI cable look like chap ayam brand... hehehe..

But, my only problem is with the volume... when i watch SD channels, the volume will be so slow, i have to increase the volume from my hi-fi to 20.. but, when i change to any HD channels, the volume will be so loud, i have to decrease the volume to 10.

I've try to use the volume button at the Astro Byond remote control, but nothing happen.. i can't control the volume using the Astro Byond remote.. i have to use my hi-fi remote to control the volume..

So far, i did not call Astro yet regarding this problem..

Anyone out there facing same problem with me? Any solution??

Yes, same here. Audio volume can only be controlled via the audio system, not Astro decoder. This is intentionally done I presume, due to the audio decoding which is handled by the audio system. The HD channels are louders cos they're in Dolby Digital 5.1 format. The SD channels are softer cos they're in regular Stereo 2.0 format.

For those who already installed Byond, I need to know how many of you are able to watch HBO HD even though you are not a HBO subscriber. Thanks.

Yes, if you've subscribed to the movie package. Else, no.

Just found out that HD channels require separate activation. Usually ASTRO CS will activate the HD channel according to the packages. But some goons at ASTRO has activated the HD channels without pairing with the packages. That's the reason some of us can view HD content and some can't. My movie package SD channels were activated but they forgot to activate HBO HD. Only today HBO HD was activated. vmad.gif

I got mine installed yesterday, i agreed that the picture quality is good (close to Blu-ray but not as good) but I have issues with HBO HD's Dobly Digital 5.1.

I am not sure has anyone else experience this:

Channel: HBO HD
Sound Setting: Dobly Digita 5.1 only

Front L & R channels seems to mixed up together with Center channel, but delay around 500ms, which sound like an echo when there is a dialog.

I do not think this is due to the source, but rather how it is being encoded by Astro.  I have called Astro, and spoken with one of the technical personal, hopefully they can get this resolve asap.

NAT GEO HD & HISTORY HD no problem.

Same issue here. Incredible hulk dialogue sounds muffled. I reckon there's something wrong with the 5.1 source encoding/decoding feed from ASTRO.

- Audio output needs work. There's problems with surround sound as discussed in few pages back of this thread. Also, it would be GREAT if Astro could enable Surround Sound output through HDMI. All amps dated 2008 till now has HDMI input for audio.

Dolby Digital 5.1 voice audio certain movies like 'a cinderella story' and 'spiderwick chronicles' seem to be fine. No echo-ing. But 'indy jones' was terrible, couldn't hear the dialogues, too much echo. Will continue to monitor.

mine FULL HD....but takkan kenot support dolby??? just didnt expect it to be like that........need to re check the specs.........

i think u right bout the HBO...but sports seems ok to me.........didnt get to watch much though........to really comment

1 funny thing to me is..i thought for eg Astro supersports HD....i thought its the normal supersport channel programmes in HD but actually its not..it actually runs diff programmes

another thing is..normal SD channels look clearer than b4!

You need to utilise the coaxial digital connection to get DD 5.1. For this, you need an audio amp that decodes DD/DTS. As for the LCD sets, both HD ready and full HD will give you stunning images. It doesn't make much difference as ASTRO HD content is being broadcasted in 1080i format. Full HD sets would benefit for 1080P, in other words, Bluray content.

Hey u guy watching Astro sport channel HD have this problem or not, the picture look long especially the person, mine the person n face all look long but for SD channel its normal.
*
That's due to the reason that the source content isn't being broadcasted in Original Aspect Ratio (letterbox/widescreen).

For those who have seen HD movies before, HBO HD's quality is consider as
'Barely HD'

The newer movies have better HD resolution. Eg. Incredible Hulk, Spiderwick Chronicles
