Installerr just came to my house yesterday. I already register online last week but after I didn't receive any call, I call Astro customer service for registration on 21st Dec (Monday) evening (18:45). The next day, they call me for confirmation(10:00). On Wednesday morning Installer called me to set time and at 5 pm as promised, they come and installed. 5 hours later, the card activated. So, they only take 4 days from registration, installed and activated. I think for those who registered online, better call them for confirmation.

As explain by customer service and also in T&C, they asked me my old stb, remote, and satelite dish. What shocked me, they also want the rca audio and video cable. I lost the yellow video cable because previously I used s-video. So they give me a hard time bcoz I need to find another yellow cable as replacement. Luckily I have my old cable (don't know from which equipment).

I also ask them to change my satelite cable although it quite new (2-3 years, I think...) The 20m long cable is free of charge, so better change if not, rugi lor.

For picture quality, I hook up to my 32" lcd tv using hdmi cable and for hd channel, the picture are so clear with 720p setting but not 1080i (my lcd only hd ready sad.gif not full hd). In my case, for 1080i, the picture is not as sharp as 720p. For other channel, I think using s-video is much more better than hdmi. I can't compare them side by side but for what I remembered, my tv give shaper and less jagged image if compare to hdmi. Or may be I need to change some astro or tv setting?

I still not familiar with the new interface and sadly to say I hate the Ok menu. Last time it just simple small menu and faster to navigate, but now it cover almost quater of my lcd screen. When I click Info, additional box appear to hide another part of the screen. Really hate the new interface.

Most probably it all depend on the installer/contractor. I live in Kuantan and I believe not many user here want to upgrade to HD or probably didn't aware about it.

correct way is to ask astro to rectify, not us!

That guy has problems, if you don't want to help don't say like, just keep quite.

@En_A,

1. Last time when I subcribe astro, they take a whole week before they activated my card. Luckily, for BYond, it take only 5 hours.
2. Should call them again..again and again...smile.gif
3. Most probably you need to set HD resolution of the astro to 720p first before to 1080i. I read some where before one user had the same problem like you because it set to 1080i instead of 720p.
4. What is your connection? Using rca or hdmi?

Yes... I also agreed with you! SD Channel seems a bit lower quality compared to the old decoder....
sometimes I can see a bit of flickering effect... especially TV3, ESPN, Astro ria....  sweat.gif  but the sound quality seems have improvement (SD Channel)..
maybe it is transmitted in purely digital signal....

for HD channels it was superb!  biggrin.gif  maybe for those who are using digital coaxial facing a bit problem like echoing, sound delay etc...
but for me who depends on TV speaker, it seems very ok....

I thougth I have problem with my tv setting when the picture from sd channel worst than previous stb. Human faces are not sharp and really sux. So now I know it is not my tv. Last night when I watch titanic, I feel like watching vcd on my lcd tv. Opss...may be vcd play with my htpc (after upconvert) is far more better. May be still I still need to buy avr with upscale capability.

my HDMI is working now! finally i can view the HD channel properly. biggrin.gif

An Astro personal called me.. First.. A girl.. She want to send technician to my home... Haih.. Then i complain again ,got another call from Astro personal (guess, a guy tongue.gif ) says that HDMI port for my decoder is not activated yet, thats why the status is off. he say he will activate instantly, then after 5 minutes,i got my lcd outputting thru HDMI n the status in system info is now HDMI: On.

I think they will use this to control HD subscription by using the same set top box in the future for costing purposes. Anyway im glad finally i have a clear cut answer n solve all my problems! Hope this can help others too smile.gif

Good to hear that.

Before activated, my stb hdmi status also off but I still can watch radio channel. But the screen have problem. For 720p, it only filled only upper half part of my tv screen, but full screen in 1080i mode. Give me headache for 5 hours to find the solution. It end up like you, hdmi still off.

I think it all depend on your area. If in your ara have lots of application but only one installer available at any time, of course it will take more than 10 days.

For new application, try register online first than contact astro after 2 days to confirm.

What cable you are using?

I got this warning if I connect using rca cable. If HDMI, no problem.
