it is a package deal, HD decoder + bigger dish + better quality rg6 coaxial cable

I think you can still use the old RG6 cable if the cable condition is still good

Thanks for the info. I guess I will continue using my old cable as I dont want to pay extra money to hack my wall to put the new cable in sweat.gif

You can call Astro now to subscribe. I have done that . I swapped my exsisting Decorder and Dish for new one , no further fees except RM20 xtra for HD channels. Fixing apmt by the next 24 hours ! So what to wait for, fix it and lets test our HD sets I think its a fair deal to take rclxm9.gif ,

Do you ask them whether you still can enjoy to watch your existing channel using the new decoder and dish?

Does anyone know if they will charge for the swapping of the dish? If they do, how much? Also, can anyone here confirm if it will be 720p or 1080i?

Just received a call form Astro.

1. The installation charges is free if I return my existing astro set (dish, decoder, remote control) and they only giving 20m free coaxial cable. The cost for the extra cable is subject to the installer pricing.

2. I can keep the existing set, but I will need to pay RM80 for the installation for the new astro byond.

3. It will be additional charges Rm20 into you bill which will start on April 2010 onwards. She did not mentioned anything about the contractual period though. She also did mentioned that there will be a RM10 stamp duty which I can't remember whether it is one off charges or recurring charges.

4. You still need to pay RM20 even though you only subscribe to Learning package which mean you can only enjoy watching NAT Geo in HD. You need to subscribe to movie, sports, metro and learning package if you want to enjoy to watch all 5 HD channels in Byond. There will be an hour delay for all HD channels except for sports HD channel.

5. The installer will come to your house in 10 days time from the day you received the call from Astro. She also reminded to check the installer identification to ensure that they are from Astro authorized agents.

Just got my byond installed today. So far so good and the quality of the HD channels crisp n clear. I don't subscribe HBO, thus will not comment on the HBO HD quality.

For those who already installed Byond, I need to know how many of you are able to watch HBO HD even though you are not a HBO subscriber. Thanks.
