ahh, the black bars mean that is is the CORRECT aspect ratio. Anyway there is a setting in the menu that changes this for the SD channels and stretches the picture to full frame.

Personally I can't stand a distorted picture and always have the black bars down the sides of SD broadcasts.

edit

I've checked (I've got a tester box) there is a setting called "conversion for 4:3 input video" this means that should you choose to have your SD channels stretched it will do it and not affect the HD channels

Will you guys hold on.....

If tmnut introduce HSBB and IPTV service, then it is  better.

Can enjoy high speed broadband and at the same time high quality HD tv.

The rate TM are going Astro will have IPTV before them and the new box is set for it. It will come down to who has the better content to watch. What channels will TM have?

Don't expect to watch WC live in HD bcoz HD broadcast will delay 1 hour this is what Astro customer service told me.........

Why would they pay all that money and not play it live?

That is completely incorrect
It will be live and that was confirmed at their press release.

Guys you're jumping ahead of yourself. The b.yond box isn't a DVR. It is s ingle tuner with no hard disk.
They are doing an update later to enable the usb port to take a hard disk to act as the dvr.

I got it, looks great. The 720p 1080i setting is for your TV not the decoder

pictures great but shame on HBO HD who, when they don't have a proper HD master, are upscaling and stretching. But when they do have the master , like "Wanted" which was on today, then holy crap it looks great.
Dish in the same direction

They will do all that. They didn't need to change my cable but they will test it to see if they have too

the b.yond remote can control the TV ( the home theatre) power on/off, volumne & input. It's like a universal remote.
Throw away all your remotes and use only the Astro one

BTW, do u all realise that the diec is tilted higher & abit out compare to your neigbour old astros discs ? The signal also better than old position..getting high of 83% or 225 instead of avg 70-75% on old disc
*
This only means all your neigbours dishes are pointing in the wrong area probably due to the effects of rain and wind over the years. They should get them re alighned which will also improve their signal strength even if they don't have b.yond.
