Last night 8pm heavy rain, so I didn't go out and check, after rain stop around 10.30pm I went out and check on my pets, I found out the baby abby (the one survived) already dead with cold harden body, and the Sheltie SOW also given birth to 1 baby, but also dead, body still soft. Sigh...so sad...If I gone out and check earlier I could have save the new born baby. cry.gif

Very hard to differentiate a sheltie or a short hair gp when it's still baby. Hope the pet shop owner din lie me la.

hope there is experts can reassure for me >.< Thank you very much

Yes, it is hard to tell at this age. Wait for another 1 month, then can see the difference.

I think the Pet shop owner lie to me saying that they were 1 month old. I think they weren't even 1 month old cuz i saw all my 1 month GP also not that small. So pity to see them being separate from the mother so early.
This 1 very guai de. She will stay calm when i hold her and sayang her. The black 1 more nottie ><
*
So small...looks like 2-3 weeks old, and under size too. Because usually Sheltie gene is actually bigger size than other breed.

Yeah..never experience any hairball issue with my Shelties and Peruvian. Have been keeping them for nearly 4 years now, never encounter such problem.

no.. if u regularly groom them and lot of hay for them to chew on..
*
Honestly speaking I hardly groom my Shelties also never experience hair ball problem lah....not because I fed a lot of hay, hay feeding inconsistent supplies, but I feed fresh veg everyday.

I think only rare % of long fur GPs have such an addictive habit of grooming itself or chewing its fur that have such hair-ball problem.

Guys, can we find Abbyruvian sp in local market? or it can only be found by local breeder?

What will it look like when matured? Or Abbyruvian is just potential breed to get Abyy or Peru?
*
Abbyruvian is a hybrid of Abby which was mixed breed between Abby and Peruvian.

Yes, you may occasionally find Abbyruvian in the local market if you are lucky, provided you know how to spot it, as the local petshops or some breeders don't even know how to differentiate it and sell at Abby price.

This is how my Abbyruvian looks like (picture below is a baby around 3 weeks old). Since Abbyruvian is a mixed breed, some Abbyruvians may look slightly towards like an Abby, some may look more like Peruvian.

Pregnancy only takes 2 months (60 days) to come out babies...not 3 months. The source of information you read is wrong.

any1 here mix abby with sheltie b4? i wonder y is the outcome? shelby all the time or abtie? i mean most of the time the sheltie gene is stronger or abby gene stronger?
*
I did that a few times before, the results are not consistent, most of the time Abby gene is stronger than Sheltie, most of the time the babies turned out to be 80% look of Abby but slightly medium length fluffy fur. Even some have the Sheltie look, but the fur may not grow as long as pure Sheltie too. They look more like American but with slightly more rounded body and medium fur coat. Kouru's bought one of my SHebby, and that's how she looks. Even the Xiawa's gp also look like normal American.

If you want to obtain next generation long fur gp, mix Abby and Peruvian can obtain better result than this. Peruvian gene is stronger than Abby.

Here are some picture of the Shebby babies I bred before:

The outcome would definitely be long fur babies, probably look like Coronet. So far I have not succeed in breeding them together.

cool!!
here some info on sheba mini yak:

The sheba mini yak originated in Australia. It was bred from the "Wombat" peruvian and the old style abyssinian (please note that these are NOT the same as the modern breeds).

The sheba has a medium length coat which isn't meant to grow any longer than floor length. Due to the shorter coat they don't require as much grooming as other long haired breeds. The body is covered in rosettes just like the abyssinian. These rosettes lift the coat up giving it the desired "shaggy mop" appearance. The sheba has a frontal which lays to one side of the face unlike other breeds where total coverage is wanted. Along with the frontal they also have "mutton chops" or moustache, giving a completely covered face.

To me it is just another Hybrid Abby with different name and similar to Abbyruvian.

I am in between KL and Selangor actually. Living on border line.

Currently all my GPs are not in the mood of mating....no pregnancy news for this month. laugh.gif My male GPs are smart and real gentlemen, they know how to respect their partners. If the SOWs are not in the mood of mating, they would respect its right and won't rape! Kekeke! That's why I do not have non-stop babies breeding stocks. My GP babies are produced out of true love from the GP pair. blush.gif

Will go bring him to a vet... Plus I've PM U about the price.

You should nego the price with the breeder, since you bring to vet for treatment will cost additional $$.

i have read that gp dont know how 2 hold its food..
i had bought the hagen pallet, quite big i think..
im using the cage like Carinmanfong using...
well, when the gps ate it, most of the pallet will be drop to the plastic bottom..
its kinda waste 4me s alot of the pallet are just drop to the plastic bottom rather than b eaten by d gp..
any had d same prob like i do?
what did u do?
or myb any suggestion how 2 solve it?
*
I cut the hagen pallets into smaller pieces. Quite a lot of work. But luckily I have a maid to do that for me.

If you are lazy to cut, then switch to Kaytee or Oxbow brand, as these pellets size are smaller.

What happened? I thought you were supposed to bring it to vet? Which vet you go? Did you feed the GP with right diet? Btw how old is the GP when you brought it home? If it is only few days old, sure it cannot survive.
