QUOTE(kianlun @ Feb 3 2010, 01:56 PM) Yes you can do this. XBMC (Xbox media centre ) is actually designed for 1st generation XBOX..but now they made it available for linux, pc, mac os etc I've been using XBMC since it was called Xbox Media Centre on the original Xbox; but now I'm running it on my REVO 3600 (which is a great HTPC platform, I purchased it for RM1200) as my trusty old Xbox is unable to handle 1080p & lacks HDMI. The latest version of XBMC with full hardware acceleration for Windows is available here: http://passion-xbmc.org/gros_fichiers/xbmcdsplayer/index.php (The associated XBMC forum topic is here: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?t=61355 ) Use the latest build. CPU at 2-3% even with 1080p, this is because the ION chipset is actually being used on my Revo. Its astounding. This feature is not available on the vanilla (i.e. Camelot 9.11) XBMC for Windows. Of course if you use XBMC Linux or XBMC Live you get the benefit of GPU acceleration even with the stable Camelot 9.11 release. But be aware that if you want the best bleeding edge features you should use the nightly builds SVN, irrespective of your preferred OS platform. Support XBMC as it is the best HTPC front-end on the market and its opensource!!! Even the soon to be launched Boxee box (by D-Link) is based on XBMC! All hail J.Marshall & gang (XBMC devs). My prefered skin at the moment is Alaska & Minimedia, check out the forums at xbmc.org. Also take note if you have an iPhone or iPod Touch there are a couple of great XBMC remotes on the App Store, one if free while the more comprehensive one is a few bucks, but its well worth the money. There are some for Windows Mobile too. Not sure about Android though. Integrate XBMC with RSS & uTorrent & you have better TV/Movies than Astro any day of the week!!!!! Anyone needing advice or help with XBMC don't hesitate to PM me. This post has been edited by hirola8: Feb 10 2010, 11:53 PM |

My XBMC on my home laptop have problem displaying subs from MKV files. The subtitles appeared jumbled up and all over the place (some subtitles are flattened horizontally, some are displayed vertically )
When I play the mkv files in VLC, WMP and MP Classic, no problem. Din't try boxee as I don't have internet connection at home. Laptop model : Compaq Presario x1000 OS: Windows XP 32 bit Pro RAM : 512 MB XBMC : XBMC 10.0 Codec pack : Shark 007 Video card : Radeon mobility 9200 Sound Card : integrated soundmax something card 1 more thing (a bit OOT here, since this more related to hardware already), is it possible for me to feed the Video from my notebook to the LCD TV using VGA cable, but audio from notebook's headphone jack to TV's AV port (White & RED)? And for future HTPC, is it possible to output audio to TV via HDMI if watching video/movies, and output audio via the audio jack to external speakers if listening to music in XBMC (So that if I put in music cd to play, I don't need switch on my TV) automatically? Thanks! And I realize despite the final version, SMB browsing bug is still there. This post has been edited by SnoWFisH: Jan 14 2011, 02:54 PM |
