Ember Media Manager
( This is a media manager for XBMC without having to enter the program )

XBMC is an award-winning free and open source (GPL) software media player and entertainment hub for digital media. XBMC is available for Linux, OSX, Windows, and the original Xbox. Created in 2003 by a group of like minded programmers, XBMC is a non-profit project run and developed by volunteers located around the world. More than 50 software developers have contributed to XBMC, and 100-plus translators have worked to expand its reach, making it available in more than 30 languages.

While XBMC functions very well as a standard media player application for your computer, it has been designed to be the perfect companion for your HTPC. Supporting an almost endless range of remote controls, and combined with its beautiful interface and powerful skinning engine, XBMC feels very natural to use from the couch and is the ideal solution for your home theater.

Currently XBMC can be used to play almost all popular audio and video formats around. It was designed for network playback, so you can stream your multimedia from anywhere in the house or directly from the internet using practically any protocol available. Use your media as-is: XBMC can play CDs and DVDs directly from the disk or image file, almost all popular archive formats from your hard drive, and even files inside ZIP and RAR archives. It will even scan all of your media and automatically create a personalized library complete with box covers, descriptions, and fanart. There are playlist and slideshow functions, a weather forecast feature and many audio visualizations. Once installed, your computer will become a fully functional multimedia jukebox.

It is difficult to put into words all that XBMC can do, head to the gallery to see some examples, or take the plunge and Try it Today.

Haha same here man..at 1st i was using Windows Media Center to organize my files. There's no going back after switching to XBMC. It's free and it's pretty. These 2 things usually doesn't come together. biggrin.gif

The thing about XBMC is you need to really find out how it works. It's not as simple as plug and play, but once u're used to it then you're good.

Thanks for putting up the info! To those who wants to try out XBMC, i think this is pretty simple instructions right?

For those who want to update online, just set content to your selected scraper and choose run automated scan.

I usually just add all my files in then set content to IMDB scraper. Then it'll automatically find all the thumbs, fan arts, plots, cast, etc for every movies.

Just need to make sure everything is in the correct filename.

Maybe the right codec will solve your problem?

why should astro be bankrupt? even Windows Media Center can stream astro as live tv using a TV tuner connected to the astro decoder
*
I thought u meant if the program can watch astro without the decoder.

if it can do that, who wanna pay for astro anymore?

Hi there,

Notice about the XBMC, my question are:-

1) Do this media support subtitle?
2) Switch language?
3) Is it similar to media player called MPCStar?
4) File type that support?
Thanks in advance...
*
1) Yes.
2) Yes.
3) No. Much better than that.
4) File type support depends on your codec.

Wow that was some really old news..prob 5 years back huh..

I'm sure XBMC if not for that purpose..it's for managing your current movies / music / tvshow.

If you're looking for the function in your post above, you might wanna stick to Windows Media 2005 like that they say.

If you wanna manage your current movies / tvshow, then use XBMC.
