Question

From browsing Internet to viewing Photo, back to Internet and the last page is still loaded.

Wouldnt this take up memory?
Any ways to close of an application completely?
*
You are still very new to Android..
Go read up how android process the apps..
don't have to close the app completely. Android will do that for you..
Using Task Killers also will harm your phone

QUOTE(cybpsych @ May 27 2010, 09:09 PM)
about the google logo ...

Desire is like a "new twin" version of Google's Nexus One.

I guess HTC made a deal with Google to sell their own unit (called DEsire) but still maintain the Google little branding (to keep them happy).

so, the deal is in fact, best of both worlds. Google still maintain exclusive with NExus One but HTC also able to sell their very own Desire with Google's "consent" smile.gif

also, HTC's market is larger (i think) cuz HTC can target different regions (ie APAC) that is far from Google's online purchase (now no more oredi).
*
Not really true..
So far only M'sia's Desire got Google logo.. Rest of the world don't have..
so what you say is not actually true...
Got mine from UK, dont have google logo, even in Australia the Telstra set also don't have google logo.. smile.gif

I have no intentions of using task killer. I did read it would do more harm than good. Just wondering how to close off all the app without leaving them in the background.

1 nore question. How do i transfer my existing contacts from a Nokia e71 to Desire?
*
Good thing.. because base on my experience with android since G1, task killer really can do harm to the phone..
to close the app = end task it..
Android "temporarily" close it for you or put it to sleep which only use a little ram and "awakes" it when you open it again.
Android also manages the memory if it's low, it'll close all the unnecessary apps so don't worry

2nd ques.. i duno. tongue.gif

EDIT: lol.. same explanation as above. smile.gif

unless u r from HTC, u dont have to say mine deduction is not true and yours is true.

it's all up to HTC (or maybe with Google's influence) how they market their units.

different region (or even country-specific) has different naming/packaging/customization/branding/pricing/etc. etc.
*
i didn't meant to offend you.
I didn't say your statement is not exactly true.. somewhat 50-50...
I have also thought about your statement b4 as HTC rebrand it...
Cheers mate

NOTE to people who want to get Screen protector..
Don't get anti-glare ones because i'm using one and forumers in Aus also gave their feedback..
because the Desire's screen is AMOLED, some screen protectors will make the screen discolor a bit or obvious pixels.
I got mine from boxwave anti-glare type cost almost 13USD, quite disappointed because the screen protector was so clear, it made the pixels very obvious..
Quite hard to explain without photos..
This goes the same to Invisible shields from zagg.com if people who are interested. smile.gif

There's a lot of accessories in ebay which are actually not bad..
Got myself a genuine HTC Leather pouch from hong kong, it's the real thing since UK is also selling it so i'm happy with it...
bought a back hard case as well, waiting for it to arrive, will post some pics when it arrives. smile.gif

Those who are waiting for Cradle/Docks, i don't suggest getting from HK as quite a lot are "chapalang"
I'm waiting for an official one

desire battery life is weaker than legend. can it last a day?

Turn off everything as in wifi, mobile network(2g,3g), etc then you can last a day.. some users in overseas reported to last even 2 days. thumbup.gif

Is there a guide to fine tune settings to prolong batt life?

Also, Desire can link to laptop to go online via data link. How?

google is your friend
http://www.mrgadget.com.au/gadget/2010/10-...e-battery-time/

u mean use desire's network on your laptop? That's called tethering(correct me if i'm wrong)
available in froyo but there's app that can to it( i think require rooting)
