im getting an i7 cpu soon but what im worrying is some ppl said that hd5770 is using too much power consumption and suggested me to use xfx4890 instead.
i need to be always on 24/7 the pc for some reason. conclusion is i need a computer that use not too much kw/h coz it gonna bomb my electril bill if i go for 24/7.
budget limit strict 4.5k

which one is the best?

the power consumption doesn't differ much between hd5870 and hd4890,you might as well get a atom sff pc for 24/7 operation if you don't need cpu/gpu power

i need both. im not planning to upgrade it for next 2-3years. so which one is good?

probably idle when im sleeping but the hdd will still writting, it count as full load or what?

The HD5870 of course...

A few things amiss here... Core i7 920 usually uses Triple Channel memory, not dual channel (although it can be used).

If you have a lot of dough, the might as well go for Corsair TX 650W..

As for power consumption, these systems are.. errmmm.. power hungry. The electricity bill will be rather high when running 24/7.

i7 860 2.8GHz have lower power consumption than i7 920 2.66Ghz.
However, if you're to heavy OCing, I won't recommend you to take iy 860 2.8Ghz of course.
Take a look of my RIG at my Signature. It might help you out since you're taking many similar hardwares.

ok,grab a lga1156 i7 system,connect it in a network with an atom sff pc.download using the atom

@animekingz, if you want to run stuff like torrenting, downloading, etc... its much better to get a separate very low power PC (Intel Atom based) for that purpose. You can switch on your mega gaming PC when you need to use (e.g. play online games, browsing, etc) and access the Atom machine as a NAS machine (network file sharing) to read/move the files you have downloaded..

im not going to oc it, all at default since i dont really know how to oc and have bad experience with oc before.

so, diff card doesnt give any diff result in power consumption at all? should i pick that i wanted?

i suggest a i7 860 and hd5850 based pc plus a intel atom pc

on stock the i7 860 is faster and use less power than the i7 920
the hd5850 is just a little bit behind the hd5870 yet costs much less

You need to think twice on choosing,
a.) i7 860(good for non-OCer or minor OCer, lower power usage, only need cheap P55 Mobo, 5% of total graphic reduction if CF/SLI using high-end GPUs which is damn little LOL, have 4 RAM slots)
b.) i7 920(good for heavy OCer, higher power usage, need expensive X58 Mobo, no graphic reduction if CF/SLI using high-end GPUs, have 6 RAM slots)

6 RAM slots(6GB or 12GB RAM) are useless for gamer, they're for Workstation people. LOL. Because 4GB of RAM is enough for any Games already.
5% Graphic Reduction means 5% of The Total Graphic Power of your CFed/SLIed GPUs. So, it's not much.

If you are using a LCD monitor with DVI and VGA inputs... then you can connect two PCs to the same monitor.

Note: Another reason I usually recommend monitors with DVI..

You can't use Triple-Channel RAM on i7 860 + P55 MOBO.
So, you can't have 3X2GB DDR3 RAM here.
Put 2X2GB DDR3 RAM is enough for you definitely(you're not workstation people I suppose).
Good PSU choosing, so, in the future, you can CF another HD5870(if you don't plan to CF don't choose such high power PSU). But ECS A2 Black edition can support CF/SLI?

i prefer they did some test (stresstest) before i confirm pick and i can choose my own hardware.. no shop can do that here.
wellcom i heard pretty expensive. i heard pc depot got didnt offer custom building , (?) is that true

why don't you assemble it yourself?as far as i know most parts in wellcomm are overpriced,but they are the only one who sells anything faster than a hd4870 here in kb

i dont want take risk. kb to my house is 40km. later brought all and assemble at home, not working or anything need to go back there .

damn that's hard,but still last time i went to pcdepot kb they did assemble custom desktops,but,most of the parts i listed aren't available there

it would be troublesome for me to have 4cpu in my room. lol. about the atom ill think. but i think my old p4 1.5ghz is capable enough and power saving

the atom is small,just a bit bigger than your palm opened,you can put it behind the lcd

Sell the old P4 off.. to finance the Atom and your mega PC. Anyway, if 1.5GHz then its most probably a Willamette which uses quite a bit of power (the generation before the more efficient Northwood).
