Faculty dependent i think....as far as i noe, UKM, USM, UPM, UM all allow 1st classers to skip masters....but i only noe for life science..engineering u nid to confirm with those who noe..

direct Phd don't really means skip masters. I doubt U get 1-2 yr discount from a direct Phd program.

If you are capable, then you could finish up ur lab work by end of the 3rd year, write up ur thesis, and viva presentation in the 4th year..
it all goes down to your capabilities..If u couldn't cope, there's no point doing a direct PhD...(timeline for life science research).
