With just a month towards Jan 1, there is not much time for card users to arrange for cancellations especially when they have to wait for their latest statements to make the last payments.

Cancel it now before they announce the tax charge in last minutes vmad.gif

dear all, i called AM bank to cancel my CC due to the RM50 tax in 2010. i was told that the existing customers will only be charged when the card "expired" in 2010. for example, my card approved in may 2009, the tax will only be charge in may 2010. Not jan 2010.

Is that correct? pls share you info.

As far as i am concerned, only Maybank will send out the confirmation letter. All others including American Express will not.

Some other banks also give confirmation letters, such as HLB, CIMB and Alliance based on my personal experience.

EON Bank lowers credit-card receivables target

KUALA LUMPUR: EON Bank Bhd aims to achieve 10% to 15% growth for its credit card receivables next year from the expected RM1.4bil receivables this year.

Group chief executive officer Michael Lor said the target growth was lower than the 18% goal this year as the bank expected the market conditions to have some impact on its credit card business.

“There has been significantly fewer credit card applications. However, we will still be able to maintain double-digit growth next year with our strong proposition,” he said after the prize-giving ceremony for EON Bank’s recent The Storm Warriors movie premiere contest.

The bank plans next year to launch another credit card with shopping features. It is looking at 750,000 cards in circulation next year from 660,000 cards currently.
