Just want to ask...if banned XBOX can we still play offline and save games? Like PC game...Games for Windows Live will NOT be able to save games if pirated (unless cracked of course). Is it like that??

I only wanna play offline...

Thinking of buying an XBOX360...for my son. (But hopefully, i can play occasionally also).

XBOX360 will last 10 years...because of NATAL....it looks really exciting, way better than WII! You can lift ur leg and do roundhouse kick just like real! Just make sure ur shoe don't fly into the TV screen and break it.

One of the reason i'm thinking of of buying XBOX360 now is because of NATAL...

about the blu ray. they now got real blu-ray jack sparrow. (blu ray burners been out for a while already) but quite pricey. but no special features or anything. just the movie pointless lah i think. the best part of ori is the specials

is project natal real? i hear its in research but the release of it is very sceptical. oh well.

the blu ray disc is still expensive... ended the jack sparrow production cost might be 1/2 of an ori blu ray.

i didnt google it cause i nvr really cared much about it even my ps3 i never google. i just wait till it comes out then i will do the ogling.

I think this analysis was mean to differentiate the Blue Ray DVD availabilty, but does the BD content quality is different with DVD's ? interms of graphics presentation ? IMHO BD its only a matter of capacity which only advantages for multiswapping games disc and free online gaming.

no its not just a matter of capacity. but is definately good news for large games that one needs to do multi swapping. the BD can support higher quality media. because it can handle larger files and the drive can read more data per second than compared with the DVD. thus it can handle more output in general, whether the data being sent out is audio or video files. if you are into BD movies, the audio files are usually top of the line uncompressed audio. below is some data transfer stats.

data transfer rate:
Data: BD = 36mbps (x1) DVD = 11mbps (x1)
Audio/Video: BD = 54mbps (x1.5) DVD = 10 (<x1)

with the usage of BD and mandatory HDD, PS3 games can be developed in such a way that the textures can be streamed onto video memory from either BD or HDD

xbox 360 do not have mandatory HDD, and DVD9 is limited in storage, so basically, Xbox 360 games have reached its peak for now,

while PS3 games still got room for improvement, games which look better than Uncharted 2 is not impossible for PS3

But Thats for store media content, it does not much have room for technically graphics content, BDrom has lot of juicy hires uncompresz video but graphics factor is no much different. People does impress with 'video' presentation, hey say 'wah' this graphics is so good. But people not realize those presentation was not render by devices itself because its only plays a store media files. BD does have alots of space for storage but its the hardware capable still almost the same.

Me?, Id prefer realtime 3D render like QTE (Indigo Propechy) than FMV, I mean playing FMV hires video nothing impress because its just a mediafile not a true ingame content

Xbox 360 DVD9 disc need to have some compression for the in-game texture data, while PS3 BD can just store the texture uncompressed, this can save significant time in real time graphic processing. Uncharted 2 was done in this way.

Plus the mandatory HDD for PS3 make it easier to directly stream the texture data from the HDD, which is faster from the disc.

Actually, if you're talking about mediafiles, it's true. The CD is like 700MB. You can probably fit a few minutes of uncompressed 1080p blueray rips there.

Added on January 19, 2010, 9:24 amIt depends actually. Texture compression can be done easily in hardware since the days of DirectX 6. The BD may have larger peak throughput, but when you access the files randomly, it is another story. A situation may happens that reading smaller compressed file and decompressing it can be faster than reading larger files on various location on a disc. I don't believe streaming from disc is a good idea at all. However, if it can be stream from the HDD, then it is much more pratical.

Frankly, the graphics between XBOX360 and PS3 is really insignificant...in fact, the most insignificant between the last 3 generations. N64>PS1>Saturn. XBOX > PS2.

Between PS3 and XBOX360, it's more like matter of taste....ATI vs Nvidia...each rendering image output is slightly different due to different architecture. Still, for most part, most cross platform games are usually slightly better on the XBOX360.

By the time the PS3 untapped potential (if any), can be realized, it'll be 2015 and it's time for XBOX 720......

Do not forget that in order to have a good game graphic, it is still depends on the developer, whether they want to invest time, money and most importantly effort to produce a good looking graphic. (correct me if i'm wrong) Xbox 360 is the same architecture as PC, so for most cases for multi-platform games, it is easier to develop; in the case of PS3, it is in different architecture, so to develop in this machine needs other knowledge.

EDIT: Given a powerful machine but if developer didn't invest in effort to build the game, the game graphic can still be bad.
