Type of camera/lens/accesories : Compact vs DSLR camera
Budget : RM1500 - RM2000 +
Your Location : KL
Preferable brand : Canon (open to other brands for compact)
Type of photography u want to do : various
Any specific models in mind? : Canon EOS 450D / Canon S90 (or S95) / Lumix LX3 (or LX5)
So my main dilemma here.. is whether to go for a semi-pro compact, or a DSLR. Undoubtedly DSLR's produce photos with better quality. But i've heard people who regret after purchasing one, saying they wished they had a compact to use instead of lugging the dslr around. Should this be a concern? Or are there any other downsides to DSLR's that you guys would wanna add?

I'm aiming for the older entry-level DSLR's actually, to fit my budget. Pretty set on Canon for DSLR, heh ;p

If i were to go for a compact, any other suggestions other than S90 or LX3? Would love to hear your opinions. I've been reading reviews and all, but it'd be helpful to know anything extra

Thanks guys (:
*
u can consider the NEX-3 or NEX-5.... Compact sized body with DSLR quality. That is if u dont like lugging around a big camera around ur neck....(to me i dont mind)
1500-2000 u can consider Canon 1000D or Nikon D3000 or Canon 450D

good photos are mostly depending on your skill u cant always depend 100% on the camera. Even phone camera can take amazing photos but up to a certain extend only

if give to you also no use.. this is not a constructive comment.. you could ask them buy rm300 camera instead
for @sempronic - create a table of the threa camera you want side by side, list out its spec, cons and pros that you know...

after that go to the shop and try each one of them.. find which one suits your hand the best... which one have the button/menu placement that you like.. and go buy it
*
why not ask them use Camera Phone? laugh.gif laugh.gif

Hi i need recommendation for my cousin

Canon 1000D or Nikon D3000 which one would be better in landscape photography ?

also i would like to take the chance to ask if its worth it if i let go
Canon Digital Ixus 200is perfect condition with 1 dot of dead pixel on the top of the screen with full box for RM600 ? less than a year old

Thanks In Advance
*
IF u dont mind the dead pixel den go for it... just ask for best price.... tell him got dead pixel ah.... den regarding the DSLR between 1000D and D3000 i would say that D3000 would give better quality for landscape....

i think there's no entry level dSLR with video mode is within ur budget there (sifus correct me if im wrong)

i wouldnt recommend a m43 bcuz its pricey too..

im suggesting the canon S95 or the Lumix LX5..its within ur budget, easy to carry around, and i read the reviews of the canon, its good under low light conditions..

but if u want a dSLR that's with video mode n not to pricey,do consider the Nikon D3100..its around RM1900..(lari ur budget abit  tongue.gif )

hope this helps  thumbup.gif

correction there are actually 500D within his budget (used) body only...

yeah quite true... agree with -kytz- with superzooms u sacrifice quality... why choose superzoomz? if u choose superzoom unless u dont mind the poor image quality... smile.gif smile.gif previously i am using Nikon p90 superzoom.... image really cannot compare with normal compact....( i dont wanna mention DSLR)

Should i go for D90 rather than D3100? which one better actually? i guess D90 right? was it all depend on the sensor quality to determine good dslr?  notworthy.gif
*
u can go either 550D or D90 with that price... why u want to go D3100 whihc is entry level ? since u have the budget for the higher level 1's

In Kai's case... both are up-to-date bodies.

In your case... I'm with zstan on this, I'd still reckon the 550D and use the 18-55 IS (though $300 is a lil expensive).

Practice with the 18-55 IS first... you'd still be able to get more subject isolation and better low light capability than your current LX3.

ps: I just bought the 18-135mm today and if I can turn back time and to do everything all over again.. I would get the 18-135 kit.. since a jack-of-all-trade lens always have a place in the dry box. Now I dunno what to do with all the other lens I don't use anymore.

sell off lor... all ur unused lens. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif
