I have never hold a Canon EOS 550D before, so I am not sure about the size, but I need one that is travel-friendly-meaning not too bulky. So I am not sure if DSLR is the better choice.

And I would like to take animal photos, which means the shutter speed should be fast. (Can compact cameras do that?)

I am not sure where to start searching, since there are so many camera models out there. So would appreciate it if someone can give some advice. Thanks a lot!

Guys, I need some advices here...
I was initially plan to buy Canon EOS 550D, then somehow I came across with Nikon D90 & D5000. Since I'm not that pro in choosing camera its really gave me so much headache. Because of that somehow I was thinking, is there any camera that has DSLR specs but with smaller body? for example the body a bit similar with digicam (smaller) while the specs is DSLR?

lol I think it's best you just stick with the kitlens, and start learning about the gear you're using Rather than splash on stuffs you don't even know or how to use.

thanks. i did test both previously and decided to go for the Canon also because I feel the Nikon is a bit dated if I compare apple to apple. My friends who are using Nikon will strongly disagree but I guess each brand will have their own fans.

Dear friends, i am going to KL next month. Planning of getting a Canon 550D, any shop recommended? Cheaper price, and freebies (hoping to get bag + Memory card + tripod). Aiming for nikon D3100 if it is out by that time. I am from Miri, so far DSLR i saw here still expensive.

Should i get Nikon D5000 or Canon 550D for first timer? Just came back from a camera shop and the seller was recommending me 550D. A lot bought d5000 and after a few months they sell it off and upgrade. And i tried D90 and 550D and felt 550D was much clearer? Having doubts on getting D5000 or 550D. Help?

Hey guys, need some suggestions.

I wanted to get Sony NEX-5 but I just Canon just recently launched G12.

I'm not that familiar with camera terminologies and I'm not sure which one should I get.

I want to use one of these cams first to gage my interest before I get my DSLR. Don't wanna waste my money buying an expensive cam to lose interest later on..

So which do you think is better for this purpose? NEX5? or G12?
