QUOTE(jackbanner @ Dec 1 2009, 01:03 PM) Why don't u make your father promise u that if u get at least 6As in your PMR, he should give u a 6'x2.5'x2.5' aquarium? U need 2.5' width for bigger arowana. I never get anything as present before if I score good in exam. My current 3ft tank is the first present because I got 4th in whole Form 2 during middle year... I just enquire 6'X2'X2' tank with cabinet and filter costs RM2500!!! That's alot and I don't think my dad will approve that unless I pay for some of it...I'm enquiring now for 2.5ft with hood and stand to put outdoors. And I will get that tank long before PMR though my aro can't survive so long in that tiny tank...Thanks |

But I dunno how to ask tho... The shop owner is a grumpy guy he doesn't like teens like me. He is only friendly to his friends... The shop assistant is helpful however not always there...

QUOTE(saif_bear @ Dec 3 2009, 06:13 PM) BenSow, later on you can give us discount kaw kaw on aro when u work at the LFS. I dunno if they allow... If can will surely discount you guys la. This LFS the best for arowana people... A lot of feeders. The last time I saw have feeder minnow, koi, tilapia and oso minnows. They also got sell ghost shrimp, frogs, crickets and centipede(RM2.50 each),MW and SW. They have 4 display arowanas. The first is in front display tank a BBXB and the others are red. If I'm not mistaken, Black aro sold around RM300 +. But if u want to buy Black aro, need to be more careful because some LFS sold silver aro as black aro since the look is almost same when it is young. Black Aro around RM300+?? Wow good thing I didn't buy. 88 Marine sell for RM500! And saif, where did you buy your 5' tank from? Your LFS sell or you order? If order, from who? Thanks |

I talking about 99fish and pets at Tmn Taynton. I go there every Saturday or Sunday. I'm thinking of asking my dad to ask them about working there tommorow... I asked about 6ft tank via Setapak Aquarium Website and email them but have no reply. I went to mudah.my and asked about 4 people who do aquarium services and only 1 replied. The one replied said 6ftx2ftx2ft tank with cabinet and filter(dunno if got hood) costs 2.5K! Earlier I asked another guy too abt 5ft x 2ft x 2ft and the price is 1.2K include stand, tank, hood and delivery. The stand itself is more expensive than my current aquarium set!
Thanks |

Wow I just saw an ad for a 6ft x 4ft tank for RM200! I was shocked and wanted to contact the guy then suddenly I saw "4'"... The place where I want to put the aquarium can't fit a 4fit wide tank...
Saif how much is the whole set of your 5 footer(stand, tank, hood)? Thanks Added on December 4, 2009, 8:58 pmWow cheap but no cos the cabinet is wooden and I don't think it can be placed outside. I would have accepted that. But I don't know how to deal with delivery though... Man I can't believe this: a student(me ) that hasn't had PMR yet owning a 6ft tank... QUOTE(MoonBlaze @ Dec 5 2009, 04:44 PM) bro, why not u consider a 6x3x3 fiber tank with front glass panel? I always suggest my customer to go for fiber tank if the size is > 5 ft long, as it is lighter and cheaper than glass tank.. Hey Moon Blaze, you in the aquarium business? Good idea too about the fiber tank, but I searched the net it doesn't look really professional or attractive.. No need stand right? So its like a little pond... I would like more info on it thanks. And guys 1 question yesterday a guy offered me a 5x2' tank for RM250 include stand(he doesn't suggest put outdoors) and no hood. I'm putting the tank outdoors and would like something bigger like 6-8', but the price is good, should I take it or wait for larger tank offer? Thanks I just doing w/c and have nothing to do and will upload pics soon... |

Here are w/c photos... And saif why you suddenly talk about glass thickness? I didn't ask anything about it.... Anyway thanks for the advice.
I know some of the pictures are crappy, that's because the water is blur and the glass is full of water drops, its w/c time... Water Change Photoshttp://picasaweb.google.com/prosperben8899/WaterChange6Dec# Thanks |

Wow, my arowana saved his own life by jumping! Last night while looking at my small planted tank I suddenly here some crashing sound, I look around and there was nothing... So I continued do a little change of scape in my planted tank then another loud bang, this time I look more carefully, I suddenly fear the worst-the stand is collapsing. I immediately look under the stand, I see that the support isn't that strong and wouldn't hold long. Then suddenly another loud bang and some water splashed out onto my back, now I know its my aro jumping like mad for the first time, so I weigh the hood down and inform dad about the stand. If it weren't for the jumping I wouldn't have looked at the stand and it may come crashing...
And what do you guys think of the pics? Water Change 6Dec Thanks |

Yeah I am really lucky.... The right leg is already bending out a bit and some of the screws are comming out, will take pics of it... Going to LFS to either buy or place order(I hope its buy, it won't hold long..) And guys, do you think a student can order fish in bulk?Like neon tetra, those ornamental fish, not feeders... Because me and my frinds want too, so I thinking order bulk is cheaper for all of us...
Thanks Added on December 7, 2009, 4:42 pmAnd now I need help... How can I carry my 3ft aquarium? I will take out all the gravel and decor... But the water is very heavy and I don't have that many buckets to drain the water, I am thinking of massive w/c.. Any more tips? And I will also ask few people to help carry... Hey Devill, I have an Oscar with my aro but to play safe, the oscar must be at least half the size of your aro. My aro was about 13cm when I got my 7.5cm oscar and they get along fine.
Good luck |

My LFS is chinese based and the name for oscars is "pig" lol... They cost less than RM10 usually but bigger ones costs more.
Added on December 8, 2009, 1:40 pmHey guys, I am very happy about getting a 6footer soon... But last night when watching TV I suddenly think bad about it... 6 footer costs A LOT. Then I was thinking that 6footer is for my arowana's own good, but should I invest in it? Or should I...stop rearing arowana? I don't know what to do... I oso not much savings... Should I save or spend? Really need help... This post has been edited by BenSow: Dec 8 2009, 01:40 PM |

No problem man! What are the people in this forum for? And I love oscars too... I have 2 in my tank- one albino one is my bro's which is now just 7.5cm and my tiger oscar in my pic <<- which is already 12cm and have no problems with my 18cm aro(except during feeding time
And maybe I'll hold the 6footer idea until after PMR I think... So I can save money and also concentrate on studies. Judging by my arowana's growth rate and other people's silver aro growth rate, my aro should be around 1.5feet next Oct/Nov |

Yeah... Few LFS mentioned that
And I'm afraid that my father is not the kind that can be persuade... Last time when I mentioned the word upgrade to bigger tank he straight just say: No lah, you got so big tank oredy, still want meh?" My parents don't support my fishkeeping one... I think paying for it is the best way.. Last time I persuade him many times about getting me a laptop, he keep refusing until I said I will pay. Then he oni agree... Economy is tough now.. And I dunno where to start if I persuade him. Plus I break down easily... Thanks Added on December 8, 2009, 3:44 pmAnd Devill, what school are u in? Maybe we are both in same school This post has been edited by BenSow: Dec 8 2009, 03:46 PM |
