kelah merah and kelah hijau is almost the same...the differences is their head and their scales....kelah merah scales are slightly smaller and their head are sharper while kelah hijau have bolder head
and slighyly bigger scales...while kelah biru looks like kelah hijau, but their body got a line across from back to front...the most easiest to spot is kelah biru...coz of the line..then, there is also kelah emas
in which their head and the most round shaped/biggest head...but kelah emas not nice la, that's why i felt la..so far i only come across one kelah emas...sold at jalan pasar, those ppl who came by and
sell their fish by the roadside.....they often got some rare fishes that we can't find at any LFS coz their fish was wild caught...
ohhh...is it the one near by the wet market/ sunday pasar malam?

the light same price lo...today brought one gold lighting, RM84

But not all kelah biru has a line across the body right? sommore those kelah biru which is smaller you cant really see the line until it is bigger right? mine is around 4 inch only now...izizt true that the kelah must reach a certain lenght only you can see the colours coming out? when small really hard to see..

sometimes biz is like that wan....no choice but to rely on trust

Well, that the cheapest ray i can't ever find in fish shop in kl ..that why i opt to get one for myself

Of course, you can get a much more expensive rays which will cost you a bomb
*
Does stingray need any special care? or any special preference? like low flow rate water and all? want to get a ray for a long time but scared of the risk..... and izizt possible to teach stingray to eat pellets?... I have a bare tank but if i feed blood worms i think most of it will end up in the filter cuz my filter quite strong....

owh...i just have a thought that waterpump inflow will be too strong for baby aro if i am using this type of filter
user posted image
or should i just use this type of aquarium sponge filter
user posted image
**ok, i will not put DBKL inside the aquarium sweat.gif
*
Go aquarium shop and they will advise you on which pump to take...... if got water flow is better for your arowana....but if you use air pump only also can.....depends on what you wan la.....

im trying to get those bio ball. I'm wondering whether i can find this near my place ...
Read from other forum, they also mentions that too many tank mate will also one of the reason
I try not to feed my aro fishes as the fishes will stay on the bottom and i think this is why my aro have droopy eyes
*
I just use the plastic bottle cap.... those mineral bottle cap also good enough....sometimes those black plastic bioball can stuck the the suction cuz it moves up and down the tank

dunno lol...the froggies seem to be quite hard to feed haha.....if only i can make them eat the bloodworm whole cube down...ah..then really nutritious froggie there oledy tongue.gif

but at the moment i cant think of any ideas to do so yet >.<
*
I have an idea.... But tedious.... u know tapioca flour? its like glue when mixed with water... so first drown your super worm.... and put them together with your bloodworm or your frog...and mix with the tapioca flour mixed with water a leave it to harden...and once dried... you can feed it to your arowana like worm balls (fish ball)

haha thx for the idea smile.gif

i think wont be good le...duwan the aro to eat flour haha

i was thinking more in the lines like using a small opening device to open the froggie mouth...(just like those use to open the V wide wide) and pour the blood worms down into the froggie gua? hahaha
*
But that way quite cruel la.....like how they make foie gras .....the flour is not alot...is just to bind the super worm to the frog

usually that's wat happen to a highback lo..max is level 5 full shine...then level6 scale and head part will be a dark coloured..wont go up want...the different btwn highback and RTG is jz slight different
RTG will go up to like 4.5level scale
while highback will reach full level 5
then RTG gold shine will be dimmer compare to highback..but they will looks exactly the same if u didnt look carefully..

Really? but my aro at 11 inch only started to show the level 5 shine on only 1 scale..... sommore is at the tip only....menas by few more months the whole level 5 will have shine? im not sure maybe i bought a lower quality grade high back...

@frenly

i dun there is for gold lol...dun think gold needs much tanning rather just normal white tfc light will do guah

They shine best under white light, but while they are young and you wana get them yellow gold looking then use the yellow light tubes loe...

as far as i know, only reds have tanning needs lol

@bensow
i fish at taman desa 'fishing sport'
unless you wana seriously go for the really fresh prawnies and dun mind having to kill them...as in cut them up alive or give them sub-zero freeze death (poor things :'( )  and also dun mind paying rm15 per hour...then come join me lol, i only go like once a month or so wan laugh.gif

for eathworms ar...try to put them in a container with like 1 mm of water for the amt you wana feed...and leave the rest in the dirt first...cuz by putting them in the 1mm water they will by the next day have probly poo out most of the soil in their bodies....

cuz to my experience ar...these earthworm they got those soil trapped inside their bodies wan ar...the aro eat it will also poo out the sand and then you have sand lingering around at the bottom of your tank...have to literally use a dustpan to sweep the soil up and throw away >.<"

Added on July 4, 2010, 4:13 pmi just was thinking of something...

ye know rite...my water in the tank goes like in a clockwise circular manner....the water pump and the positions of the outlet house from the dual canisters support this...

when my fishes poo rite...on heavy loads...they poo is like rotating round and round in the middle of the tank...

will take some time before its actually gone...

does anyone experience this?

what i was thinking of maybe i can connect a hose to the water pump with a thin cloth sock at the end of the tube to suck all the poo into the sock thingy...where the tube end is at the middle of the tank and the other connected to the suction area of the water pump.....and then extract it like that...through the sock

cuz currently i'm using the water pump directly connected to the sponge to provide some filtration and water circulation...

any better ideas?
*
Maybe you can just pump air in the places where all the poo acumulates to rpovide circulation>?? btw where is the LFS of the RM16.5 fish?

hmnnn....adding the air pump there will only just make the poo fly up and circulate back the middle lol

how do you guys circulate your water and ensure the poo gets sucked into the filter fast and effectively?
*
Hi leong have you tried it? i think it wont circulate back to the middle....the air pump will make the poo fly to those region where there is water circulation and into the filter.... that is what i do....

yea i dun get why silvers from halfway round the world costs rm28 and asians from 4hrs up north cost few thousand... o.o

@leggedy- dunno, maybe old one want to use
*
I think is because of the supply and demand theory. How many silver there is compared to the golden head arowana? sommore those high grade arowana are hard to get because they go through selective breeding..... i think last time no such thing as a golden head arowana..... but they go through so many selective breeding until they achieve it.... eg. cross back + high back you get an arowaan which has a price in between and you called it the so called super high back..

Leong, do you have a special tank to store water for few days before changing your tank water? I see your tank got many filters menas you give the best to your fish... but i still think if u use aged water and change it everyday is that best.... btw....

Why is dead spot in the aquarium tank not good? I thought this dead spot could be places for the arowana to rest...

tqtq tongue.gif
haha noler, i just used the ball initially to find dead spots, now i just leave em there to help prevent de
i did leave a corner with very slow and low current flow for the aro to rest at xD

yeah the filter i have double (invested into a lot of those ehiem filter media  sweat.gif ), i thinking of even adding in an over head filter ....but like i dun think my hood has much space inside for that wink.gif

i use aged water from the danki water stored above the house lol
my wc schedule is 30% every saturday
sometimes i will do on wednesday if i feel up to it but saturdays is a must even if i'm cold/sick/beaten down or anything hahahaha

i love my red  wub.gif

--------------------------------------------------------

i wonder if we can use test tube to mix silver with red and gold etc and see how it comes out like lol

imagine silvers with red scales and red cheeks or gold and got blue base....or even high back and all.....laugh.gif
*
But if you use tangki water is not 100% aged right? cuz just say your tangki water is 1m cube can just take your bath in the morning and use 200 liters or water....means your tangki will be filled with 200 liters of new water..... meaning not 100% aged water right?

I would like to get a Red arowana too....and a cross back but no $$

high back a....1k is a piece withour chip and cert...a highback with chip and cert will cause ya like 1.8k...
golden arowana distinguish by certain types...
there is highback(lowest grade of gold)
then crossback above 3.5k...depends on quality
and now a new breed, gold head...4.5k and above..
sure is a gold head....kin fatt they get their fish this way, this batch red aro, consist of chilli red, blood or super red...
then next batch gold...and so on..

if u guys really wanna get an arowana, go walk like 10-20 aquarium shop before u get one...  lol
coz u will have to see and understand them..or else u will get one that u do not desire for once u know them better..
actually wanna explain these in words are kinda hard..u have to see for urself..  biggrin.gif
i been looking around for aro since early of this year...been to more then 20 lfs..but still looking on...still lots to learn..  hmm.gif
*
Do you mind telling the list of 20 LFS u went to in search of arowana? I cant get enough of them and spend alot of time wondering around lfs to look for arowana around KL and selangor.... thumbup.gif
