I will chose place with less traffic.. Sometimes i can spend hell a lot of minutes there just looking around.. If there is no parking, is gonna difficult for me..

Friendly shop keeper also very important as we fish keepers always have one or two question to ask..

Where about in happy garden.? the shop opposite the TNB sub station.?

Supplier is not really the problem, its working out the possibility of making a decent living with the lfs. Nowadays things must be cheap, and with so many lfs around when it is cheap you need quantity, without quantity then its dangerous biz. So from what I gather lfs is not really a profitable biz like it used to.
*
It is true if you are only selling fishes and products.. try to include some extra services like aquarium cleaning and also setup..
The owner in Taman Desa lfs is making very good profit with setup..

hello bros, both my aros have some problem..

First, my big rtg, havent been eating for 2 weeks, now keeps on flaring at anyone who walks across the aquarium as u can see in this vid..whats wrong with my rtg?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqFCd-bIHTE

Secondly, quite awhile ago, my small rtg jumped and smacked the cover real hard and broke both of the barbels..now, the left barbel seem to grow ok while the right one seems to lag behind..any help on this? will it eventually grow back to normal or need to do something about it?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnaXwsAETVk
Any help and advice would be deeply appreciated.

Thanks
*
try to add little bit of salt and some vitamins solutions.. salt is too promote good appetite and to prevent infection..

Dunno about the big fella.. Btw, nice rtg you have there.. how big is it right now.?

more!! more!! more vids of your arowanas!!!
Hey i just wondering rite....for those that play around with brackish water for your aros......is it very difficult task?

cuz its like change in p.h during wc can cause the aro to die rite? how to make sure the ph is all good and not to cause the aro to die of ph shock? as in what are the steps taken during water change and when to add the brackish water thingy?

Cuz like for me i think about it....assume water is fresh from tap in aquarium (ph.7)- use ac to condition water...
then add in the brackish water solution which also at the same time increases the acidity of the water...
lets say its at a perfect 6.5....aro lives in the aq for week...all good..
one week after, the p.h cud be like ph6.6 or 6.7 cuz of the amonia-nitrate-nitrite conversion (cycle process) which of the nitrates and nitrites in the water cause the ph to go alkaline a bit...

Then its time for a 20% water change....
takes 20% volume water....ph still remains at 6.5-7
adds in anti-chlorine....
adds in tap water (ph.7) into the aq which has water 6.5-7
------ph balance takes effect-----what is the ph conversion from a 20% water change?
then once 20% water replaced....
add in brackish water solution (that is suposed to increase acidity of water)

Does the water go back to 6.5?

During this stage is what is worrying me....will it make the water too acidic? will there be fluctuations in the ph...1st tap water (ph 7) then brackish water (ph.6.5)

Sorry i know i sound messy.... rclxub.gif

cud anyone enlighten me plz? wud be really gratefull  smile.gif
*
Wahahaha, reading your post makes me dizzy d... rclxub.gif Dont worry too much, Arowanas is actually a very hardy fish... a 20 percent water change even without the brackish thingy is fine... I do that twice a week and water ph value wont fluctuate much...

hey all, i just got my new 5 ft aquarium today ^^

1st step acomplished lol.....

now comes the ironic part....i have ehiem classic canister filter......will it be enuf for the arowana and 3 bichirs?

Also the tubing not long enuf zzzz....anyone know where can buy eheim tubing and aprox how much it costs? lol damn i need to budget budget budget >.<

took them seriously great effort to carry it up to my room >.<

they wet the black foam bottom and then slide the aq over the cabinet...at the bottom got air bubbles in the wet bottom :S they said is like that and will take time for it to evaporate....is that true? sounds dodgy zzzz
summore said better wait for another 4-5 days before start to put water in cuz it was just made yesterday night :S
*
It will dry eventually... 12mm thickness.? you can start to put water in it now... Pretty sure the silicon is cured by now.. let the water run for couple of hours then remove all of it while scrubbing it clean.....
after that, is time to setup bio filter system... smile.gif

Do put in a pleco 1st before you add ur other fishes.. They will eat up all the loose silicon for you... and dont worry, it wont die... smile.gif

hi all,

i plan to have cheapest baby arowana (i think it's silver/pearl) in a plastic tank . in future i will buy glass aquarium . anyone can let me know when arowana grow to biggest size, how many minimum feets of aquarium size i should buy ?i also worry if my house suddenly no electric, the air pump can't work and my arowana can die.
*
Invest more on good pump that comes with rechargeable batt in them... when there is a power failure, there is at least 6 hrs run time...
how big is your plastic tank.? Basically you need to get a 6 feet tank in no time... i will put it at 1 year.? give or take couple more months...

Guys I wanna ask why my aro not eating? Yeah I know there's the answer on first page but I need some advice too... My aro recently got one of his barbels chopped halfway(dunno what happened) and I haven't been feeding him for 1 week plus now didn't go LFS buy food.... Just now I dropped in 2 guppies he ignored them... Why? And what is best staple for aro? I buy shrimp, crickets and SW/MW every week which should I feed most?

Thanks
*
Time to spend monies again haha... Could be sign of disease or extreme stress...

Dude, you need keep them in cool dry place.... alot of place to hide but make sure the places is big enough so that they wont get trap in it.. put a small plate of water and make sure the plate you use can be grip by them... and you need to feed them and ventilation is very important... two very cheap vege will do.. (carrot and cucumber) to enhance the colour and latter one is for the vitamins.. smile.gif

only amazonian arowans)silver and black) grow to 3 feet 4" max in aquarium. 4 feet is in wild. Asian normally reach 2-2.5ft.
*
What Ben said is true but a 4 ft aquarium usually comes with a 1.5ft width.. Is not going to be enough for a grown up aro..
