QUOTE(mihawk @ Dec 17 2013, 01:04 AM) I noticed this when I was setting up my mom's new iphone a few days ago. What I did was, I went to Settings -> General -> International -> Region Format, and change it to UK (or US, whichever you prefer). Hope that solves your problem. thanks a lot.. got it...

QUOTE(ChillyPepper @ Dec 15 2013, 09:43 PM) This issue used to exist because of iOS's nature. No apps can run in the background (even to receive messages). What actually happens is that the server pushes the message to your phone and you receive Push Notifications. These are just notifications, not messages. When you launch WhatsApp, WhatsApp needs to connect to the servers to download the messages. Well, I wrote "used to exist" because iOS 7 fixes all that by introducing a nifty little feature called Background App Refresh. If you're on iOS 7, go to Settings -> General -> Background App Refresh. Turn it on. Scroll down till you see WhatsApp and turn it on as well. Once that is done, any Push Notifications you receive will trigger WhatsApp to run in the background to receive the messages. Well, of course, it takes a little toll on your battery. thanks for the tips. tried it for a few days. still doesn't solve the issue. I guess it's just how ios is like others already mentioned..

If im not wrong, it's because the the process was running background and whenever new message is coming in, it will auto download it even you didn't launch whatsapp.

I experimented again after what you mentioned. Note: You have to leave the app running. Don't swipe it up in Multitasking. You have to leave it in the bar. Don't force quit. Either that (disabling Background App Refresh) or force-quitting the app.

I'm still new in iOS so this is new to me.

I'm still new in iOS so this is new to me. No problem mate. I was curious since it did not work for you, so I tried with the app closed. Turns out messages weren't received when it's not "running" in the background. iOS does things differently than other handsets. Even with "full" (Apple calls it full) multitasking built into iOS 7, it still isn't real multitasking. Apps are still frozen when closed, and they're only allowed to run very limited background processes in order not to put a strain on the battery. New to iOS 7 is the ability to run background processes whenever a push notification is received, and that's how WhatsApp receives messages in the background.

I am IOS Whatsapp user now, and I bought the app at 0.99USD. I just want to check, this is a lifetime account as per my mobile number, if I am going to jump ship into Windows Phone/Android then will my account be invalid? How to migrate all the chat history as currently the backup is done to iCloud.

Getting Started

|
Hi all, any of u experience this situation:
It's been for a few months that i cant really get my whatsapp notifications on real time. for example a friend send me a whatsapp msg then push notifications will not arrive immediately. sometimes it waits up till half an hour later then i get the notifications.
it's better if i receive a few msgs one go. then i'll most likely get the notificaionts on time.
i always on my mobile data n i live in town so no low signal problem usually.
