never tried Ping because most of the people i know are on Whatsapp and my whatsapp list is growing day by day. maybe you could ask around at the ping thread.

but you shud give Whatsapp a try if you're not using it. you'll be amazed at how many ppl in ur contact list is on whatsapp

Added on April 20, 2010, 12:53 pmwhatsapp will work so long you have an internet connection. but pandai pandai la, if you're bringing a msian line to overseas for holidays. then try to use wi-fi connection else you'll be charged for data roaming if you use EDGE/3G.

one of our close fren is working in vietnam and he got a local number which has free data plan and he is using whatsapp to stay connected with our group of frens in malaysia. it's like free sms

Yes, because it uses phone number system unlike Ping! which uses username.

How do you guys setup WhatsApp? I entered the following

Country code: +60" Malaysia
Phone No: 012-1234567 (or should I just enter 12-1234567 without the '0'?)

I know it doesn't work as a few of my frineds in contact list with WhatsApp and it said there is no one in my contact using it.

Just enter without the 0. I had the same problem the first time, but its taken care of. None on my contact list on whatsapp too

when you select malaysia, you will get +60

then just put your number 12-3456789

what happens if ur on the other person's address book but he/she is not on yours?
would whatsapp work? i mean, can the other person msg you?

Yes it would work. The person will rcv the msg just like sms which will display your number but without name. The way whatsapp work is just like sms on the front where you can see if the msg sent to server, delivered to user etc

2) Other person display pic depend what you use as their pic when you store their phone no
3) Your display pic is not going to display on another person phone if they just simply store your name
