just to share with you guys,
I've been having frequent dropouts since I've installed my 4Mbps package. My SNR always move around from 25dB to as low as 14dB sometimes.

Anyway, I think I've found a solution to this problem. The TM contractor that came and fix the modem apparently did not enable SRA and Bitswap function in the modem, which helps if you would have frequent line dropouts. I've enabled both of them and since then, my line has been stable so far. smile.gif

If you have dropouts and sync problems like me, you should try and enable SRA and Bitswap. Oh, btw I'm currently using the Riger modem provided by TM.

Currently my speed is hovering around 1.5Mbps though... but I guess it's more towards TM's service than the Bitswap and SRA I think.

The riger modem default username and password is

username : tmuser
password  : tmuser
*
use
username: tmadmin
password: tmadmin

the tmuser username enables you to log in but unable access to the modem settings.

internet today is quite unstable rclxub.gif

Day 4 of my official complain being lodged to TM
I guess TM technicians are working on my line now..... either that, it's a major screw up in the line

I've an old 1Mbps on my other phone line and the line attenuation is only 29dB downstream and 17dB upstream (upstream same as 4Mbps line)
I think it's more of a cabling problem than distance since my cables are more than 15 years old and have encountered several lightning strikes throughout the years (fax machine fried, telephone fried).

Since my line is less than 2 weeks old, it is still under warranty period and the technician that came and fix is supposed to be in charge if there are any problems. I've phoned him up but he seems reluctant to come over and have a look. Besides, I don't think he would be able to help me change the cables too... Nevertheless, I'll try to call him up again and persuade him to come over. Worse come to worse, I'll have to wait till the end of the week till it transfers to TM responsibilities and call TM. rclxub.gif
