from what i READ n SEARCH thru 10-20 pages back there these past few days,
YES, 2 and 4mbps share the same port.

they will upgrade u to 2mbps first, when the tech guy come to ur house, he will activate ur 4mbps account.

but in my case, those stupid TM staff did not upgrade my port first and when the technician came to my house , shock that my port havent been upgrade yet but he activated my 4mb account first. now im stuck waiting for tm to upgrade my port.

call 100, the CS agent said it will take 14 DAYS TO UPGRADE THE PORT, which i said to her, BULLSHIT!.

now report number open already, and gonna give them time until next tuesday, if nothing happens, am gonna go complain to CFM
*
I can confirmed that they increased the speed from 1mb to 2mb.

the usualy 100 kb/s became 160 kb/s

However my speed on mirc is slow, but torrent is fast using the 115.135.xx.xx ip why is that?

MIRC speed depends on the uploader also.

You sure it's 2mbps? I get 180-190 KB/s easily on my 1mbps package. 2mbps should get around 250 KB/s.
*
I downloaded from these users before using 1mb with certain ip addresses and can get 90-100 kb/s.

I am pretty sure it is not the user issue but rather some sort of throttling by tmnut on mirc download :/

Wonder why they want to launch unifi when they dont even have coverage for 2mbps~4mbps here in Mutiara Damansara .. so disappointed .. but still, P1 got signal problems .. don't really trust Digi and Maxis broadband lol
*
You sure they don't have 4mb adsl in Mutiara Damansara?

I just subscribed and they are sending the technician over to check. If doesn't qualify that is my money down the drain shakehead.gif

But one thing i can confirm, we already have the Unifi fiber boxes around the residential houses in this area, but they don't allow us to subscribe to Unifi yet cry.gif

Anyway, since i am paying for a new activation for 4mbs broadband, will they give me a free riger's modem?

My Aztech firmware something is wrong because i cannot access it as a router to check snr and all that shakehead.gif

Yeah speed on IRC is very slow. I thought it was a problem with my router settings.. but I tried with VPN, and it went fast. Definitely TM doing some sort of throttling.
*
Any solution for this?

Vpn must pay for is it hmm.gif

My technician (big guy with glasses; Rafi) stayed an hour.
He called Streamyx a few times to upgrade the speed.
Then Streamyx talked to me as well to confirm that they already upgraded my speed.
*
Wow.... your lucky doh.gif

I bet the guy just say 24 hour then is ok, then he ciao, so later if got problem i won't complain to him.....

Is it normal they don't wire the modem for you? shakehead.gif whats the point paying activation fee when they don't do a proper job. The guy even admit he was hurrying to do the next job in the same taman. Want to hurry so got free time to minum kopi is it :/ wtf.

Is 130 to 200 kb/s normal for megaupload premium using 4mb streamyx??? 4mb is suppose to be 512 kb/s isn't it ???

So how come speedtest to malaysia server is 3.5 mb (448 kb/s), but when download from premium mu is the speed of a 1.5mb (192 kb/s) broadband? wtf biggrin.gif

My question is, so should i report to tmnut to cap my 4mb to 5mb, and to give me 218 ip range??? Any opinions :/

i think you two need to request for ADSL cap change to 5mb, cause normally we won't able to get 100% from their service, so if your adsl cap is at 4mb, hence u get around 80% of it, which means is 3.x mb
*
With my snr and attenuation do you think my connection will be stable still if they cap it 5mb instead?

Someone told me that if you cap it higher then 4mb there could be issue (what issue i don't know).

I've never seen 512kbps upload speeds on Streamyx 4mbps service - mine or anyone else's. Does anyone actually get those speeds?
*
Not sure, i am new to 4mb :/ don't know what to expect.

But my mu premium download speed is that of a 2mb broadband :/ ( this is even when using 20 connections for a single download !! ), to me i don't feel i am getting my 80% total speed at all hmm.gif

ps: i just saw my jdownloader spike up to 420-450 kb/s (roughly 80% of 4mb, international download speed no less) which is probably fine with me :/ but it seems to be rare it gets to these speeds and remains consistent.

Later i complain they will say some grandma story that international speed no 90% guarantee :/

The quota is for local connection only. It only applies to the connection between your home and TM's server.

Can i run a speed test to a local malaysia server not necessarily belonging to tmnut, would they accept that for proof if i get below 90% biggrin.gif ???

Do we have any consumer protection for international speed :/ ???

The only thing i use local servers for is thestar and lowyat but that is it laugh.gif

Well, even if you run a speed test to other server, most probably you'll get max speed. But TM will surely tell you to check up on their speedometer.

How do we know that they didn't just rig their speedometer to say our connection good all the time? That is why i use speedtest because i don't trust tmnut doh.gif I will check theirs out to see my result anyway since thats the only one they acknowledge :[ sien.

QUOTE(Demonic Wrath @ Apr 21 2010, 03:44 PM)
International speed? "Best effort policy", that's their answer to you. You've even agreed on it when you applied Streamyx. Check your terms and conditions.

What best effort? They hardly put much effort into international bandwidth :/ the last i heard all they did was buy a small share in the AAG (asia america gateway) and thats it. Maybe they are still doing ongoing developiment for the international bandwidth for us but i haven't heard anything about it :/

QUOTE(Demonic Wrath @ Apr 21 2010, 03:44 PM)
Yes, although best effort policy originally applies to local connection, now SKMM has ruled that users should get full speed on local servers. If you're not getting, then you can complain.

Most likely you can get max speed if you download with multiple connections. But, please be reminded that all our international bandwidth is shared by thousands of users. So, you might or might not get full speed when you're downloading from international servers. Local servers should guarantee full speed though.
*
Hardly any local content to download :/ 80-90% local speed is a given. What matters to people these days is international. our MCMC is very like our MACC. They were made to give us the impression that our (the peoples) interests are being looked after, but actually they are only just for show, no action, and only looking out for the businesses and rarely the consumer rolleyes.gif

Anyway i will keep track of the speed somemore and see how it goes :/ it's only been a day so far...

ps: jdownloader speed is still around 400-460 kb/s using 4 simultaneous connections for a single download. Earlier i recorded 300 kb/s for mirc, i will check that and torrent in a bit doh.gif

I'm using 175.144.xxx.xx.xx

bro moogle,

when u do speedtest u can choose seri kembangan/penang/etc as location of testing, that is our LOCAL server. by default it will be set to the nearest server

and speedometer, i believe they already in our local.lol

and if u r not getting 4mbps, u can request from them, just use the proper channel like many others already said before in previous replies.

the basic steps is,
1) do a few speedtest and capture the screen.

2) call 100, report that u r not getting the speed u want. I personally advise to do this after 14 days of installation since below 14 days we are tied to the techician warranty. from what i read, most people complain that their technician is the stubborn and hardest part to convince to cap our speed more than 4096. yeah, technician sucks including mine. but some do have good technician which will cap ur speed to 5mb instantly with just one call.

3) after one day, complain to CFM at http://complaint.cfm.org.my/ explaining that u r not getting full speed from the speedtest. attach the screenshot that u got.

4) in most cases, u will receive a call from TM the next day and they will cap ur speed higher than before after that.
*
My ip i keep getting keeps says my location is borneo :/ but i am actually selangor. Why is that ?

Hm should i even try to call the technician to cap 5mb (give a try), or i wait 14 days then i call 100 ?

So please advise what can i do ???

I called them 2 days ago and the technician refused to cap 5mb at port and also give the 115 or 218 ip range (as such i have no ticket number since i get passed onto the useless technician)

should i report mcmc now? Also what should i say besides providing my speedometer screenshot. Will they accept that i need to be 5mb capped and get either 115 or 218 ip range ?
