I heard of before about unscrupulous dealers swap & changed LCD of phones. But normally it occurs only to AP units.

Actually most manufacturers imposed a dead pixel policy to safeguard themselves. The policy differs from one to another. They will only replace the LCD with 2 or more adjacent dead pixels, 3 or more non-adjacent dead pixels. I know this sucks especially if the LCD with QVGA resolution or lower.
