Interested in keeping Shrimp...
actually i got ghost shrimp in my planted aquarium now..
i use high light setup..
but the problem is, the shimp always surfaced at night.. maybe because less O2 and too much CO2...
already shut down the CO2 at night, but some time they also surface . The fish is somehow more hardy than those ghost fish..

Planning to make a shrimp only tank later... i think i would like to use moss only.. can the moss survive with out co2 an only low light setup.. and also planning to use dc fan as cooler... or maybe i don't need to use it as the air bubbler will create enough surface ripple for the water to evaporate more rapidly... (more evaporation, the cooler the water become.).. can any of the gurus here give some advice to this humble noobies..

so if the water is not very clean, does it affect the pearling ?
what else can effect the pearling?
lol, the ghost shrimp is just for trial.. not willing to see the beautiful shrimp just die like that if anything bad happens...

already got strong light, and ample Co2 supply also...
my tank only does the pearling for a couple of days, but now it does not do much.. only can see some bubble on the tip of the Christmas moss..
got some algae formation too...but i got otto an algae eater to take care of that... my water is clear... but im not sure of the nitrate level in the water..
because i just top up the water every day because it dry up very fast..
do you think that i need 20 - 40% water change?

Yup.. The coke bottle wont take much pressure but i'm sure the co2 production in my DIY reactor is not that high..

I use bioaura water filter.. seem that i didn't need anti chlorine..
The raw tap water in my area is dirty as hell..
It even smell like iron sweat.gif
don't mention the color....
hate to take bath in the morning and feel like pouring rust all over my body..
could not user external water filter though..
the water pressure there is very weak..

If activated carbon is used, will the anticlorine have any effect?

If you plant heavily, the O2 from the plan photosynthesis should be enough for the plant and fish to breath at night

i'm planning to plant as many as i can first to condition my water parameter first..
but now, my tank look like a jungle tongue.gif
all of the plant just reached the water surface..
maybe because of hi light..

planning to start a new tank.. maybe a bit bigger and get rid of this prototype plastic tank .

Thank for you comment smile.gif
