Iwagumi? A true iwagumi, just get 1 or 2 types of carpeting plant.. TAKE NOTE that an iwagumi is not easy to maintain tongue.gif (talking about bags and bags of new soil + HC only, imagine that.. )

@cata.. maybe it's because you overdose c02? tongue.gif I have some MACers who swear by that el-ceapo method of supplying c02.. so.. I don't know tongue.gif

@ TianYin,

it's all in the process to a healthy tank.. need to let your tank cycle first ma.. being impatient would only lead you to a delayed or immediate crash.. Some people go around saying, I put my fish in since day 1 also no problem! I dare you to check back with him in 2~3 months time. Also, if the tank looks well, ask him of his troubles during the months.

My tank doesnt need much care now. In fact, i just look at it once a week and WC once a month now ( tank and system is close to 1 year old ) why? Proper start-up. Never had any MAJOR algae issue as well ( THIS IS A MAJOR POINT)

not to take things personally,

" GOOD THINGS NOT CHEAP, CHEAP THINGS NOT GOOD "
biggrin.gif

And never expect miracles. You need to be hardworking enough to have a good looking tank.

p/s
CRS = Crystal Red Shrimp
RCS = Red Cherry Shrimp.

For further information. GOOGLE

Proper start up?

Add soil,
add plants ( as many plants as u can.)
Slowly add water...
then use a good filter preferably canister ( big enough 1 la )
let it all run..

LETS SAY YOU ARE USING ADA SOIL..

Here's my secret hehee..
Day 1, err above step lor.. water in and out till clear.. remember to fill slowly
Day 2, WC 50%
Day 3 WC 20%
DAY 7 week 1, WC 50%
Then every week after, 20~30% WC ( once a week )

having c02 is a must for all the higher maintenance plants.. with proper lighting.. and PROPER TEMPERATURE hehe.. ( enquire within or just go to www.my-mac.net)

Most important equipment is filter. smile.gif Why ? ( Well, here we look at the Nitrogen cycle )

ONLY ADD FAUNA at MINIMUM, after 1 week.. DOnt suddenly add a huge number.. slowly.. bit by bit weekly..

For anything else, GOOGLE. haha.

YOu are indeed in the wrong zone.. But.

How long / old is your set-up?

Fish species involved?

a 2feeter and 7 chiclids ( god knows what chiclids you're taking about, might even be discus and angels LOL ) are a little too much I say.. it's bound to happen IMHO

there's a misconception IMHO with the CBS. GO research the origins of CRS and you'll know why. Lazy to type essay now

More people are of course liking CRS more to CBS.. colour wise ma..

hahaha, then start researching. For all I know, there seems to be some dos and dont in the field of chiclid keeping.. ( Don't bother asking me in depth, this is afterall the planted tank thread )

such as having 7 agressive fish in one 2feeter.. If I'm not wrong.. those chiclids ( excluding dwarf chiclids, apistos ,rams etc. ) can grow pretty huge.. at least 4ft la brader!

Drew

Added on March 6, 2010, 1:26 amthe chiclids we deal with here are apistos, rams, angels, and discus haha.
