astria, y would the folding run better on ubuntu instead of windows?

becuz the SMP clients were written in Linux in the first place... and later adopt it for Windows... thus the Linux client runs better than Windows, even if u ve Linux in virtual machines...

nah, it simulates how protein folds and unfolds, which are useful data for researchers... and that's y it's called folding...

displaying AND simulates how proteins combine themselves, to put it in layman terms...

well, i am sure the 3rd generation of GPU client is gonna fix that...

CPU Uniprocessor - only make use of 1 core, supports Windows, Linux and Mac
CPU SMP - multicore support, Windows, Linus and Mac
GPU2* - ATi and Nvidia GPU with stream architecture, Windows only
Cell - exclusively for PS3

*the original GPU client which runs on DX9 and ATi X1900 has been discontinued...
