The diffuser is always halfway so that there is still some surface area in the 75 degree position (forwards is considered 0 degrees.) If you bought the original Stofen, it would come with a piece of paper that tells you to always put it up 45, 60 or 75 degrees (forgot which).

It is underexposed in direct mode because your camera is set to ADI (flash power is based on lens focus distance.) You need to change it to Pre-flash TTL (flash power is based on whether the pre-flash is too weak or too strong.)

v1rtual: like what freddy said, not flash, but the overall exposure is a little on the bright side. lower it a little might gives a more relax feel.

can be adjusted if u're using RAW..
if u're using JPEG then not much can be done..

no such thing as overkill.
at iso 100~400, A200 is awesome with details.
but A100 would be much crazier... heheh.

do you have the raw file?

i'm not sure about photoshop CS4 as i don't have one... but in lightroom, use the recovery slider to get back the lost details in the highlight.

Use Layers in PS? Aka, duplicate the image, the 1 duplication is for the BG and the other Duplication is for the Model.

You can export the RAW with slight -EV compensation, then pull the tones out of the reds.

bro no prob... last time my a200 can withstand -3 or -4... going to korea later this evening... hopefully my a300 can withstand the temperature... last check the temperature is -10!!!

v1rtual: through my eyes and my lcd monitor (heh), the first picture could use some improvement. the background is lit more than the subject (the model appears underexposed). maybe you could bring up the brightness on the subject. the as for the 2nd picture the model's face is a little too berkilat. maybe burn a little in kedaigambar. I like the poses. this is my observation la. cheers mate!
