QUOTE(jam_lennon @ Sep 15 2010, 03:35 PM) ya, tearproof @ mv oso like that, i walked in, take out their backpack, open up every zip to check compartment, take out rain coat, try put on the bag and walk, i "play" there like 10mins but no one border me..... anyway, wanna ask sifu Keong, i saw a shop @ pertama selling osprey too, they did not tell me much regarding the price just the first digit, compare to 35% discount @ tearproof, i guess just around 30-50 difference got fake osprey selling @ pertama? and oso, i wanna buy osprey kestrel 58L, can i use this as cabin/hand carry luggage @ AA? if it is under 7kg weight i bought mine at pertama, osprey aether and yes they are genuine. recently i've lost the buckle for the chest strap and requested the repllacement from tearproof. I got the part no problem, except for the long waiting time. took me almost 3 month as they've sent the wrong parts. but overall this bag is nice, i've used in when i went hiking at mt nuang and rajah. can carry around 25kg and i dont feel much of the weight. their all mighty guarantee are also nice as the cover all the parts except for tear n wear of course.

QUOTE(mabaw @ Feb 22 2011, 03:08 PM) phew....after 20 pages of reading this thread i still can't make my mind Mr. Keong, can u enlighten us on how to spot top grade replicas? Fakes for me are easy to spot but high grade replicas gonna an expert like u. hope u dont mind Are u referring to deuter brand? To avoid buying replica deuter bag opt for other brand.there's a lot of other good brand out there, some of it even better than deuter plus u can avoid buying fake replica.karrimor, millet, lafuma, osprey, lowe alpine are good example. The price may range from rm2xx to rm1000+ depending on size and technology it offers

QUOTE(mabaw @ Mar 1 2011, 07:31 PM) i don't mind any brand (i'm eyeing for an osprey aether 85 actually) before Deuter become popular among those fake seller i noticed a lot of fake TNF going for around 1++.but those are obvious fake now for stuff.but top grade replicas are tough to spot, and our mind will tell us it's original(although it's a replica) if we pay original price for it. i'm using aether 70 myself, nice bag with good back support. used it for several mount hike.

QUOTE(Kelv @ Apr 21 2011, 11:26 AM) Thanks, looks like tearproof have branches at MidValley, Times Square and KLCC. Any recommendation of bagpacks for one month backpacking? Budget RM400+-. with that budget maybe vertical cause its cheaper..depends on how big u are willing to carry how much stuff u want to put,i think 80l bag is big enaf. if u have more money to spare try a more solid brand such as deuter, karrimor, lowe alpine, osprey, millet. but the price are sometimes a bit overwhelming. got my osprey aether 70 at rm600 from yoonhin shop in pertama so far i'm very2 satisfied with this bag its better for to go down to the shop and pick a bag that suit ur taste and vertical brand are also not so bad btw This post has been edited by kira_88: Apr 22 2011, 03:53 AM

At least I have a head up of the good brand first. Can find few sellers selling online, but doubtful whether is genuine stuff or not. Waiting for the promotion at TearProof or anywhere around KL. i suggest u went to mdm sia shop in pertama, she got good bargain on bags.30% at least if i'm not mistaken.my bag cost around rm8xx in tearproof but she sell it cheaper and i can assure u that she's selling original

QUOTE(Togepy @ May 2 2011, 05:48 PM) hi guys, are we suppose to bend the aluminium bar to fit the shape of our back? i got a deuter act lite, and i was wondering whether the aluminium bar that support our back are made for us to bend according to our body shape or it is designed to stay on the shape that it originally came with...? the aluminium bar will actually bend according to ur body contour.but not through force..never bent it urself..u need to carry weigh with that bag for quite sometime, and it will bend to follow your body contour nicely. that's why it is not recommended to share backpack QUOTE(moochan @ May 2 2011, 09:18 PM) what is her shop's name? i got bad experience dealing with auntie seller at pertama complex, hopefully not the above^ kedai bag yoon hin..what happen??cucite cucite?? sorry to hear that bro..didn't know stuff like that happen b4 this when i want to make warranty claim for my bag she ask me to deal directly with the distro tearproof. No problem for me except need to wait long due to wrong part sent by osprey. just to be safe...avoid buying deuter bags cause there are a lot of high grade replica out there, opt for other brands, some of them are a lot more better than deuter

QUOTE(Keong @ May 11 2011, 10:24 AM) Hi guys... Sorry to hear about your 'misfortunes' with backpacks. One of the biggest challenge for us here in Malaysia when it comes to outdoor gear and claims I think is due to the fact that there are no local 'repairers'. In countries where the market is big, manufacturers can have 'repair' sections in their company to attend to such matters. Here, quite susah. To open such a place is simply a waste of money. Generally, I think most outdoor gear in Malaysia do not have comprehensive 'warranty'. They can call it lifetime warranty etc but the truth is, to send the item back to the manufacturer in the US, get it repaired and then sent back to us may even cost as much as the item itself! Some manufacturer will bear the shipping cost, some will actually ask us to bear it. I think we all have good and bad experiences with outdoor gear. I have a friend who broke one of the blades in his leatherman. Sent it back to Leatherman USA and got a new unit! So...he is a happy dude. I think one lesson we can all learn from your unfortunate experiences is that we cannot expect 'warranty' claims to be 'in effect' for all outdoor gear in Malaysia. It is simply not possible, time consuming and possibly too costly. That's my personal opinion anyway. i agree with u keong, for me i had to wait 4 month to get my replacement chest strap. we are being neglected
