Hi guys,

Would like to seek your advice.
I'd like to get a hiking back for approx 1 week trip.
I've narrowed down my option to Deuter Futura Pro 42/Vario 50+10.

The reason I chose Deuter over other brands is because of:
- Price, cheaper than Osprey, NF, Lafuma...
- Mesh, better ventilation, I can't stand the heat generated at the back after some time of usage tongue.gif

I wonder if it can fit a 15" laptop & a DSLR (if possible) so that I can avoid carrying an extra baggage?

Which one should I go for between these two?

I heard that Mdm Siah offered RM350 for Futura Pro 42, how bout the price for Vario 50+10? And for the price she offered, is it authentic? As I've checked the price from some sellers in LYN, the cheapest I can find for Futura Pro 42 is RM410 and Vario 50+10 is RM480.

Thanks in advance.

I know. It's not the sling type but double shoulder strap like normal backpack. However, because of the material; it's more rigid and if no proper meshing at the back for ventilation, the heat generated would be more. Thus the uncomfortable use.
But again like explain before, you'll have to test it out to see whether or not it suits you.
One point to note though, if you don't take care of your dry bags properly you might risk the "skin" peeling off especially at the top where you need to fold 3 times to clip it for it to be waterproof.

You can try this. Start "packing" without the bag yet, i.e. take out all the things you wanted to bring. So roughly you would know how big the "pile" is as everyone's definition of packing for 1 week is different.
So once you have a gauge on what you wanted to bring and how big is the pile, then after seeing the real backpacks; you would have an idea whether or not it would fit.

The price however I'm not very sure. wink.gif

Thanks, b00n for the advice.

I'm trying to avoid backpacks that are >60l. Don't like the idea of carrying such a huge bag walking around, especially during 3 days of local trips. I'm looking for one that can serve for multipurpose usage. You know, the backpacks aren't cheap so it's not a good idea for me to get backpacks with various sizes.
The another thing is that if I get big backpacks, I have to check it in in airports. I prefer to carry it in planes though.

I've read that backpacks in Aus are cheaper but after a brief search, the price is almost the same :/
