QUOTE(zombieyap @ Nov 5 2009, 09:42 AM)
i faced the same situation as u. caz next year i will heavily travel to oversea and i tot of buying a larger capcity backpack.
Buy deuter larger capacity beg so expensive and mdm sia commented that deuter larger beg is not comfortable to used for long hours.

That is why i decided to buy high sierra(www.highsierrasport.com)55liter beg from tearproof.
Caz during the travel time i will bring along my 30 liter deuter beg as day travel beg.
And 55 liter will be my airplane onboard beg.

high sierra brand have the same feel and design like deuter but less expensive.
For sure the Quality will be lower than deuter and no life time warranty lar.

If you plan to buy from tearproof, wait for DEC mega sales they are doing mega sales which have average 20% to 30% discount.
My advise lar, you really need to try it out in real person before you decide to buy or not.
and you need to know how frequent will you used the larger capacity beg? if very frequent is worth to invest for deuter.
But if less then you can buy less expensive brand.

try imagine will you walk around KK with the larger capacity beg?
very heavy and tired lol.

Added on November 5, 2009, 9:49 amoh ya. for deuter backpacksales.
you can try your luck wait for warehouse clearance from world of sport which sometime have sometime no.
Else you can go Mid Valley jusco, there are selling old deuter beg.
Another alternative mdm. sia shop she gave 30% immediately. I have compare Jusco price with mdm sia and still mdm sia price is the cheapest for deuter by almost RM100. mdm sia do sell fake deuter lar....but how long lasting i never ask smile.gif

if mdm sia, she will advice you have to take care like how to wash the beg.

HI KEONG/ZOMBIEYAP cool2.gif

HI I WOULD LIKE TO OPEN A DISCUSS ABOUT THE PERTAMA SHOP CALLED YOON HIN.
DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHETHER MADAM SIA IS SELLING REPLICA MIXED WITH SOME GENUINE BACKPACK. FOR DEUTER.
NO DISCRIMATING OR DISRESPECT FOR SOME PPL TO SHOP THERE BEFORE. I UNDERSTAND THAT SHE MIGHT GIVEN
THE BEST SERVICE AND A FAIR NEGOTIATION FOR THE PRICING. icon_rolleyes.gif

MY QUESTION IS - IF THE PRICE IS CHEAPEST AROUND IN KL.
BUT WHAT YOU GET IS REPLICAS, THERE IS NO POINT EVEN GIVING OUT A 20-30% DISCOUNT.
SORRY DUDES. ACTUALLY I WAS LOOKING FOR BACKPACKS. ACT 60+15. smile.gif
HAVE DO SOME BACKPACKS RESEARCH FOR A MONTH. STILL A NEWBIE. icon_question.gif

I WAS DECIDED TO DIRECT PURCHASE FROM THERE.
BUT AFTER... I HAVE PULL MY HANDBRAKE AND DO "DRIFT" U TURN. shakehead.gif

I READ/COPY ALL THE PICTURE FROM BLOGGERS/WEBSITES/IMAGES, I COMPARE THE PACKS THAT MADAM SIA SOLD TO A BLOGGER IS KIND THE DIFFERENT FROM DEUTER US/GERMANY WEBSITE. THIS IS THE POINT GETTING ME VERY CONFUSING. ACTUALLY I'M TRYING NOT TO THINK LIKE THAT. SINCE SO MANY PPL GIVING HER A GOOD FEEDBACK COMPLIMENT

BECAUSE OF HER FRIENDLY ATTITUDE, SEEMS LIKE EVERY SHOPPER WAS HAPPY WITH IT. "HAPPY WALLET"

BUT THEY NEVER FIND OUT THE TRUTH, WHETHER IS 100% AUTHENTIC OR REPLICA.
EVEN COMES WITH EVERY PIECE OF TAGS WITH BARCODE. vmad.gif

ACTUALLY THE GENUINE OR REPLICA CAN'T SIMPLY JUSTIFY BY PRICING.
500 TO 1000 IS DOESN'T MEAN THAT THE ITEM WAS LEGIT. "FOR A BACKPACK". whistling.gif

MAYBE I'M WRONG.... sad.gif
FOR THOSE WHO HAVE BUY BAG FROM THERE. MAYBE CAN TAKE OUT AND COMPARES THE PICTURE FORM DEUTER WEBSITES

SORRY JUST A DISCUSSION ONLY. CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG. blush.gif

HI KEONG/ZOMBIEYAP

I HAVEN BOUGHT ANY BAG YET BECAUSE I STILL DOING MORE RESEARCH AND I THINK IS A RISK TO BUY A REPLICA/AA PACK AT RECOMENDED RETAILING PRICE.

FOR MADAM SIA. I HAVE NO COMMENT FOR HER. BECAUSE STILL HAVE MANY PPL LIKES TO GO THERE BECAUSE 1ST COMES FOR THE PRICE LA, 2ND SERVICE. rclxms.gif

I WENT TO CHECK THESE ACT PRO FROM WORLD OF OUTDOOR, UFL BANGSAR AND MANY PLACES. KINDA DISSAPPOINTED ON THE STITCH ARE IMPERFECTION "CAN BE SEEN ON EVERYWHERE" AND THE MATERIAL ARE SO-SO FEEL. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT QUALITY IS FROM DEUTER [SINCE 1898]. TOTALY OUT OF MY EXPECTATION. MAYBE LACK OF QC IN VIETNAM, WHO KNOWS? ALL THE DEUTER PRODUCT IS FROM UFL. I DON'T KNOW WHY THE STOCKS ARE DIFERENT FROM DEUTER JAPAN AND GERMANY. I HAVE FEW PICTURE TO COMPARE. icon_question.gif

CBU COMPARES WITH CKD. SAME ITEM BUT THE QUALITY ARE DIFFERENT.
NOT EVERYBODY WILLING TO SPEND EXTRA MONEY TO GET THE CBU CAR.
SO THEY GO FOR CKD. LOOKS THE SAME.. WHO CARES. hmm.gif

DEUTER BACKPACK ARE GOOD LOOKING, ATTRACTED SO MANY YOUNG AGE CONSUMER, THAT'S WHY SO MANY MALAYSIA LIKE IT. BECAUSE OF THE DESIGN AND COLOR. NORTH FACE ALSO NOT BAD, BUT ABIT LOW ON TECH CAUSE MANY FAKE. "IN CHINA" COMPARES WITH DEUTER. OSPREY,KARRIMOR ARE SIMPLE IN DESIGN/COLOR. NOT MANY PPL IN MALAYSIA CAN ACCEPT THE DESIGN. GWEILO "NGAN SIX" GWEILO "FUNE"... I'M NOT PRO BACKPACKERS BUT I LIKE TO DO RESEARCH ON MANY PRODUCTS.

GREGORY "BALTORO". LOWE ALPINE "SIROCCO,CONTOUR" ARE LARGE FOR HIKING PROS.
I DO LIKE THEM BUT VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND REPLACEMENT PARTS. SO BETTER THINK OF IT.
PANIC... "ANYBODY KNOWS ABOUT LAFUMA? GOOD PRODUCT? QUALITY WISE OKAY?
I'M INTERESTED IN LAFUMA'S TRAVELLER 60. COMPARES WITH GENUINE DEUTER ACT PRO 50+15.

LOTS OF PPL SAYING THAT DEUTER ARE AFFORTABLE. OR CHEAPER. I DO A PRICING SURVEY FROM FEW WEBSITE, DEUTER JAPAN,GERMANY AND YAHOO.JP. THEIR RETAIL SELLING PRICE ARE HIGHER THAN OUR STORE 'RSP' ALMOST 1/3. IT'S A HUGE GAP. SOME MORE THEIR DISPLAY PICTURE ON THE NET IS DIFERRENT. MAYBE WE ARE BUYING REPLICAS/CKD. I STILL THINK DEUTER PRODUCT ARE NOT CHEAP IF YOU GET THE REAL ONE. PRICE COMPARES FROM YH.

AFTER A DISCOUNT. U WILLING TO PAY FOR THE BAG SURE NO SUSPICIOUS POINT FROM THERE. LESS THAN RM50 PROFIT AFTER A MAD DISCOUNT WHO WANTS TO OPEN A SHOP TO SELL BAGS, SOME MORE DEUTER MID RANGE 2008/09. CAN YOU IMAGINE HOW MANY PERCENT OF GENUINE OF THE PRODUCT IS. WE DON'T TALK ABOUT OLD MODELS 1ST. WHAT I HEARD IS LASTEST MODEL JUST LAUNCH STRAIGHTLY OFFER 30%. HUH?

"1 MARK "COINS" 1 MARK FOR THE "PRODUCTS" IN CHINESE : ) YOU HAVE TO STUDY THE PRODUCT AND LOOK SEE JAN JAN thumbup.gif

I UNDERSTAND THAT SOMETIMES WE CAN'T EXPECT THE SALESPERSON WILL TELL YOU THE TRUTH OR A SHORT EXPLAIN. DUE TO THEIR EXPRERIENCE, SOME OF THEM MAYBE YES. OTHER'S JUST WAIT FOR MONTLY SALARY FROM ADMIN. LIKE THAT DAY I SHOP AT WORLD OF OUTDOOR. I ASK THE SALESPERSON ABOUT THE DEUTER WARRANTY. THE MESSAGE FROM HIM WAS VERY BLUR. DUNNO WHAT HE SAID. THEN HE KEEP ON TEXTING SMS INFRONT OF US.

KEONG ALREADY GIVEN ALL THE ANSWER IN HIS PREVIOUS THREAD. PAGE 1-2-3
HE ACTUALLY KNOWS "SOMETHING". SORRY I MEAN "ALOTSSS". KEONG MUST BE WORKING IN LUGGAGE INDUSTRY.
HE IS A DICTIONARIES "PROS" FOR BACKPACKS I THINK. ANY QUESTION WE SHOULD ASK HIM. WHERE CAN I GET LOWE ALPINE?

MY CONCLUSION IS
NOT SAYING THAT MDM.SIA IS CHEATING US LA. IF YES I THINK SHE CANNOT SURVIVE TILL TODAY LOR.
NO POINT TO SAID I'M RITE. BUT I JUST OPEN A COMMON SENSES DISCUSSION ONLY. MAYBE I'M WRONG...
IF YOU WANT TO BUY SOMETHING EXPENSIVE/CBU CARS MUST DO SOME HOMEWORK LOR. cool2.gif

SORRY MY ENGLISH IS POOR and SORRY I STILL REPLY THE OUTDATE TOPIC AGAIN. sad.gif
BECAUSE I COPY AND PASTE... FROM MY NOTEPAD AND I DON'T HAVE INTERNET AT HOME.
LOL

Wow hakgwei...you are really into gear huh.
Be careful, it may well burn a BIG hole through your pocket and bank account.

Karrimor SF, a few months back someone was trying to sell it on mudah.
Yes, it is expensive to buy it from UK but try ebay (international). You can sometimes get a good deal there.

Suunto...hmmm...I am not a person who will recommend them. I know of a friend who paid thousand ringgits for it and a few months later, the compass kaput and the broken strap costs RM200+ to replace. Have to send for servicing some more.

When it comes to gear, I would suggest that we consider practicality & function.
For watches with all these sort of functions, I would say Casio gives you good value for money.
Suunto is good I suppose but so expensive (to buy and maintain).

Maybe we can all share what our interests are. That way, we can know better what type of equipment to 'chat' about.

wink.gif

Hi Keong,

Long time no chat, i was trying to reply. vmad.gif
Last time dunno why this forum have block or something.

I not really into gear so much la.
If for a long term investment 5 to 8 years for "Rucsac"
I think is worth for paying that... LOL wink.gif

I like that DPM style karrimor SF. Finally i have to order from UK.
I think SF series are made in Vietnam. "Karrimor" made in china
Any recommended size. What do you think about 60-70L? rclxub.gif

Emmm. Regarding the Suunto watches. Dunno i just looking for a new digital watch. Because i don't have one. My Fav Suunto Core
i do have a active ebay account but electronic item from ebay are risky. But have to check whether is come with international warranty.
Yeah auction in Ebay are cheaper for 30% to 40% off compare in Malaysia RSP. If you willing to sacrified the warranty.
In U.S End user have used for more then 6 mths, if broke or Malfunction they replace a new watch for you without questioning.
This is what i read in their Suunto sales feedback, In Malaysia maybe is hard to look for spare parts Maintaining. Expensive also...
Everything import to Malaysia is expensive. Not like HK or Singapore. sad.gif

Besides gear collection, what do you collect?
Do you mind share with us, Appreciated! rclxm9.gif
Camera perhaps?

But only consider this pack IF you are interested in military packs and will be using it for outdoors. Also, choose Olive Drab and avoid buying camouflage packs. Military packs are so NOT cool for civilians like us. These packs are NOT cheap by the way.

Was wondering as a fan of military stuff, since the military product are open sale to end user. icon_idea.gif
I think is a great chance to feel/abuse/test the actual military stuff, is cool to get one of this. like you said field tested.
Talking about funtional, military packs are durable & conservative but less function, but not as comfortable compares with...
I don't have a braveheart to join military, But wish to own a real camouflage pack for some reason are
I'm standing at 6.1ft average size i think still looks acceptable... cool2.gif
If you ask me choose Olive between Camo i think the camo will definately stands out abit.

Would like to check with you. Camouflage packs are restrict for certain reason rite? sweat.gif
Need some of your opinion. Pros and Cons, before i get in trouble like kena kipnap, News headline kena bomb.
Bombproof packs still survive but not the owner. doh.gif Just Kidding. LOL

Yeah when i get my SF, Sure let you know. But currently DPM is out of stock.
Still have time to change my mind whether Olive or DPM, DPM color will be back in feb.
No problem we can meet up later... When i get the SF.

Appreciated. Keong is our mentor... RESPECT! notworthy.gif

Yes, you may get into trouble for using camo items in Malaysia. Even if it is clothing. But I think the authorities are more strict on camo items that are like the ones our local military use. If for example you are using the Australian design camo ones, should be no problem (but to be safe, better check huh smile.gif
Why they restrict the use has practical reasons. If for example you are moving in the jungle with that backpack, if for some reasons our military is near that area, they may think that you are 'unwanted' guests in the jungle. Or worse still, if they are having a real life exercise, you may end up as collateral damage because you look like one of them!
For this reason (and many other safety reasons), many packs these days are made with bright color material. Red, blue and sorts. Colors that stands out from the natural environment. So that you are easily spotted and identified as a civilian.

Hi Keong

Well you are rite, you got all the points. After your explaination. i'm not going to used that in jungle.
Because i have lowe alpine appachian red and deuter Act blue. Now thinking of getting a KSF60-100DPM for Trekking/travelling/Backpack.
Have been reading alots of good feedback from the user. 4.5kg with PLCE pockets empty though. shakehead.gif
It's kind da heavy bag. but is more functional like the PLCE pocket and another 40 extended. total can be extend to 125L.
i'm not saying that i'm going to used the max of the bag but at least this is a extra features in the bag.

Keong you have so many bags... and how to take care of these? Pls teach icon_question.gif
My BIL give me his lowe alpine never used b4 but no idea inside grow fungus and sticky powder form.
I can estimate that you spend have around 10k for all your rucsac collection. shocking.gif
How often did you go camping? What is your favorite place for Camping/Trekking?

Gregory which model are you own? Baltoro/Whitney? Where you get that from?
Good stuff but poor on replacement parts when you want to order. So far which one is your favorite?
The best of the best... thumbup.gif

Deuter is for some ppl who very new to outdoor packs, just like me last time.
Lafuma product are nice for female, But not many feedback or review from user.
Do you have any comment for them? wub.gif

Thanks for the platatac intro, It's Awesome

Would appreciate it if you guys could shed some light on newbie question...
Hope you guys can share your experience on the current size.

1) What size is just qualified for long hours trekking? Sizes like 50L/70L Large capacity bag is not comfortable to used for long hours?
2) How to wash/take a good care of the bag?
3) Do you guys buy Transport/Cargo cover for your expensive Large capacity backpacks when you travel? Or just abuse.
4) Any good sleeping bag recommend? Brand/Model/Size.
5) Top 10 Brand/Rucksac/Hiking Shoes. Just name it.

Thank for sharing. Cheers icon_idea.gif icon_idea.gif icon_idea.gif

Yes, we know that dragging a pack down dirt road at 60 mph is excessive.
No, that won't stop us from doing it anyway to find out which top packs can survive a serious case of road rash.

Hi Keong

You are too humble. You still the most experienced guy around. Still have a far way to learn from you. rclxm9.gif
Good to know all the information on how to taken care the packs. Thanks for sharing
Definitely helpful points you've made clear everytime. very much appreciated! smile.gif

I think you have the "Olive Drab" Stingray. It was bloody awesome! Suprizingly that you also liking into military packs. Good for you.
Where do you bought that? They do seem pretty expensive though, Cost more than KSF. I know the military version is kind da difficult to brought in asspecially camo. i'm still struggling to get my KSF 60-100 DPM with PLCE. But dunno lowe alpine "Military" whether have the same problem.
Stingray is consider 55+20L Large capacity. Nice design. and i thought you are a light packer? I just don't undestand the 'Cubic inches' tutorials.

If, like me, i buy lots of stuff when i travel, Large Capacity has the advantage can always have less in it, but you can fill a pack so much.
To me, around 60-75L is Perfect! Any more and it will become a real burden apparently! sweat.gif

Just bought a Vertikal raincoat/transport bag @ RM65. Exactly design like Deuter, in black different material + more weight but value for money. Deuter transport selling RM139, Vertikal is from singapore and quality & material not bad at all. Now looking good locks for secure. Because fancy transport bags can be stole when check out sometimes. Experience from my friends. Only left the rucsac on the conveyor the outer skin were gone.
Shits happen sometimes. cry.gif

PACSAFE/TEVA/COLUMBIA recommend? where can i do window shopping for pacsafe/Crumpler? Karabiners? rclxub.gif

Well, my intended use is to basically live out of it, some trekking routes, plane/train travel, woods and travel. I'm not an expert but plan to do all this B4 aged of 30s. India-Nepal-Tibet-Viet-China, I also plan to go west for future trips by using the packs. i have 2 packs at the moment. Lowe Alpine and Deuter, Maybe will sell the lowe alpine and KSF replacement. I think this 2 packs i will abuse for 15/20 years yawn.gif

Macpac is a superb bag. Basic and tough potential. Well besides that there are too many brand we never get to know in Malaysia.
I just fall in love with outdoor gear recently. I'm very open to other recommended brands, now i know about 30 Brands. Kena Racun already.
Deuter is a good brand & design, if you buy it from UK or Japan, can be differentiate some quality from the packs. It's true.
Now alots of outdoor gear company appeals to a mass market and does not seem to care about quality and innovation. Business...
Personal advice stay away from North Face, the most scary "LV"replicas compares to Deuter. Really poor reputation for quality/functional...

P/s : Mild Detergent is which type? No idea for that, any detergent recommend? i only know "babies wash" detergent is mild type.
Dry bags is for what kind of purpose, for pack hygiene? i'm a careful person.

THANKS & HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010 TO ALL OF YOU. \(*.*)/ icon_rolleyes.gif
