Hi andyang...

Yes, it is very possible.

But I have to warn you that many of my friends started with a budget. After looking around, they decided to 'extend' their budget a bit coz the pack that they 'like' is just a bit more expensive. So, I hope you are a discipline guy Andy!  icon_rolleyes.gif

Again, it goes back to what you want the pack for. And if you are the type that is very very concerned about the brand and how it looks, what color etc, then it will take some time for you to find the right one.

Good luck!

Dear Keong,

I am not concern about the brand and looks or colour. I just need a beg for my 1 week trip and future trip as my current beg is too small for the trip so i need a bigger 1.

That's y i asking if who can recommend any. As long as there is a quality and cause use for long term is enough. Noneed branded stuff. smile.gif

Please advise again.

thanks

Hi Andy,

For RM250 you can get brands like Vertikal (or Vertical) made by Sports Connection and maybe even some military packs.
Other brands would be difficult because for sizes 45 and above, prices are normally at least RM350 and above.

Vertical is not a bad brand actually. Sports Connection owns tTearproof in Malaysia and this brand was made in the same factories in Vietnam that makes brands like Millet, Deuter etc. This brand carry relatively good design (some copies) but they are cheaper because of the brand and also some alternative material (which is still good).

If you think you will not be using much of the pack after your 1 week trip, this may be your best option. What I consider as low usage of a pack is when it is used for 'real' outdoor use only once a month. I think that is under utilizing the pack.

Your other alternative is to get a used one. You can get this through Mudah. There are people who sells their old pack. But never buy Deuter via Mudah....almost ALL I gurantee is replicas...or face. They can call it what they want, OEM bla bla bla...fact is, they are replica. End of story. BUT having said that, if you just want to use the pack only 3 times in a year, then the replicas is another option, as long as you pay dirt cheap for the packs. Dirt cheap is anything under RM150 for a 35 liter and above pack I would say.

If I were you and I know I will be REALLY using the pack at least once a month, I would go for a second hand unit with RM250 budget.

IF I were gonna use the pack for once a year and with RM250, maybe I go for the replica units with spare cash after buying it!

My two cents worth smile.gif

hie keong,

Hi Tsukiyomi001,

For bombproof packs, I highly recomend New Zealand or Australian packs. Brands like the below:

Macpac
One Planet
Wilderness Equipment (now under Sea to Summit)

The above materials uses really strong materials and they would probably last longer than their human owners. If you like to 'feel' one, I can let you have a look. I have one. But when they are bombproof, they are heavy, that is the general tradeoff. Walk into any outdoor store these days and they will all tell you that the 'trend' these days is to go light.
They are expensive too.

I think to a certain extend packs are a personal choice thing. The redoxx pack is definitely not for me. It does not have the 'outdoor' design pack in it. Dupont materials are used in a lot of packs. Curdora is a common material used in a lot of packs. Other popular materials are 'diamond twill nylon', 'ripstop' and a host of other materials that specialized company makes.

Zippers are mostly from YKK. YKK heads that territory hands down. But at the end of the day, most of the packs I know are made either in Taiwan, Vietnam or Phillipines. China of course. Nothing wrong with it. In fact, it is even better. These places are 'hi-tech' concentrated. They have to be to compete with other OEM manufacturers.

Cheers

Dear Keong,

Base on above details u provide,

Macpac is suitable for outdoor use/travel?

Overall of the beg is good except is heavy ?

If compare Curdora metarial how heavy is it? cause i already try Lufama beg at bangsar there...just wan to know the comparison..

thanks.
