Hi Keong, I'm looking at this thread since I'm planning to get a backpack. Before I notice this thread, all in my mind are just Deuter, Deuter and Deuter. After reading the entire thread, seems like I shall keep Deuter out of my shopping list. Anyway, need your recommendation on these, Millet, Lowe Alpine and Lafuma. These 3 got your good review but I'm looking for a cheaper one. FYI, I'm looking for a backpack which is around 30-40l which can fit in to 56 X 36 X 23cm as I'll be using Air Asia for the coming 2 trips and I only want to carry a hand carry bag. BTW, do you think this kind of size is sufficient for a 6-day trip to Sabah (not much outdoor and jungle trekking)?
Thanks!
Rgds, Bryan

QUOTE(Keong @ Jul 8 2010, 01:26 PM) Hi Bryan... I will help you but do keep in mind that this is strictly my personal opinion. It may sound a bit weird but one of the first questions you need to ask yourself is what is your comfort zone like? I know people who can survive a week's trip with just 3 pairs of clothes. One pair for day wear, one for sleeping and the other to rotate when one is being washed! Not many people have that kind of comfort zone I reckon. Also, I am a BIG person, which means my clothes takes up bigger space that the average guy. So, I need to take that into account as well. There are other brands like Tatonka too. Nnigue...yes, I have heard and used Vaude in the past. Good packs. Hi Keong, What if, 8 tshirts(with spare), 2 shorts, + toiletries and other small items? because I will be wearing jeans all the time. if come across any dobi, will send dirty clothes for them to wash too. will be bringing slippers but wearing shoes all the time when walking. Thanks!

QUOTE(Keong @ Jul 8 2010, 02:51 PM) Bryan...I cannot tell you for certain if it is a yes or no. It is VERY subjective. Some people may travel with little clothes but plenty of other stuff like cameras, laptops, binoculars, extra pairs of shoes, etc. Why not you pack all the things you want and then try to fit them into the pack or something of similar size. That would give you a good idea I reckon. Also, don forget, you may want some empty space for the things you buy along the way! Hi Keong, Thanks for the advice! I will try to bring my things and go around and look.

Hi Keong, I went to Midvalley to look around. Went into Tearproof and found out their Osprey are nice! Although it is kinda pricey, still life-time warranty enlightens me a lot! However, it has only 1 compartment inside the bag, is this usual? I check out Deuter too, Deuter has several compartments inside. Checked the Vertikal too at Tearproof. Too bad they are standing beside Osprey, makes them look too bad beside Osprey. Didn't manage to go to UFL, even though reached the shop already. The parking there is damn full! Shall check it out next time. By the way, you mind PM me Nadir's number? I would like to check the Lowe Alpine out.
Thanks!
Regards, Bryan

QUOTE(jacktmj @ Jul 14 2010, 07:42 PM) Hey Keong, Just went to ss2 checked out the few Vaude and Lafuma and Millet bags. According to the salesman, Lafuma and Millet are sister companies, and Millet is a much more rugged bag if compared to Lafuma, is that true? I think I met the same salesman as you too! I went there yesterday at around 2pm and he told me the same thing as you said here.
