Parliament paid RM12K for each computer

KUALA LUMPUR: The new computers installed for Members of Parliament in the Dewan Rakyat cost a whopping RM11,916 each.

In a written reply to Fong Po Kuan (DAP-Batu Gajah), the Prime Minister’s Department said the touchscreen computers, including the cost of installation, cost RM11,233 each.

Furthermore, an additional RM320 was paid for the keyboard, mouse and tilting bracket, while an 80GB hard disk cost RM363.

The computers were installed before the current Parliament started on Oct 19 for all 222 MPs, which brought the total bill to more than RM2.6mil.

80GB SSD is almost RM800 la..

Can buy i7/Asus Rampage/6GB RAM/ATI 5970/1TB HDD with that money.

Is our gomen really that stupid?The finance ministry can order directly from dell website for much cheaper price.
A RM3K pc will only cost about RM666K.

As Jeff Ooi pointed out,most if not all of PR MP's are computer literate.
Same thing cannot be said for BN MP's.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of the BN's MP ask "Apa benda yg kotak2 depan meja ni?"

1)Most of the BN MP's are old some of them till today didn't know much about computer.I've read few article about that.

2)Since you're LYN member I'm assuming that you know computer hardware stuff.We are not expressing disappointment over some company getting profit but instead we're angry because that company sold a sub standard product at the very high product.As we pointed out in earlier post,With RM12K for each computer we could have bought state of art intel i7 computer instead of cheap,low capability intel atom based pc.Not to mention the 10" screen which give the eyes more pain.

2)Singapore is different from Malaysia.It's hard to compare Malaysia & Singapore since as much as I hate to say this,they belong to different level than us.

3)I already said most of the PR's MP's are computer literate.
