Read a page back and you'll notice that staffer ARJ has done you [all] a favor by doing just that.

Edit: Arj beat me to it! cry.gif

Is there any significant downgrades to using Component to S-video cables?

I'm willing to try that, my TV doesn't support components, but S-Video. Am planning to try this method, get component cables for Wii, use the component to S-video adapter, and see whether there's any improvement.

Can I still enable progressive scan? (480p) Any opinions?

Sihum, you can't use prog scan on S-Video - the reason being you'll need a direct component connection TO the TV. So better save the money and don't get the component-svideo adapter.

My friend has the cable, the only thing I need to buy is the component cables.

So what you mean to say is that, even if the Wii DID have a S-video cable, it wouldn't be able to output 480p?

The cable(adapter as they call) is actually a 3 video signal(the component colors) to S-video.

So I thought of 'testing' it like this.. From Wii component video, through the 'component to S-video adapter', to the TV.

Still cannot? TV/Wii won't like/accept?

^ S-video will only carry a 480i signal and not 480p.

LCD monitor that is around that budget is BENQ FP94VW. Retail price is RM 799.  thumbup.gif  But one shop at my place sell for RM720. So, thats probably a good choice. Has HDMI also. But I am not sure whether it can play XBOX360 or PS3. Because I am wondering about that myself. sweat.gif  Anyone can help?  icon_question.gif

If I'm not mistaken, it should be able to. Through component, HDMI, or VGA cables.
