Welwitchia,

Just got off Ryan from Pioneer Malaysia, i was asking him about the BD-LX70A BD player. Asked him about the current Kuro models too, and the Kuro 42inch is RM9,999 while the Kuro 50 inch is priced at RM16,999 and of XGA scale, meaning it is only 768p. If you wanna go 1080p on the Kuros, you need to go up to the 50 and 60 inch model, which are priced at......*drumroll* RM34,999 and RM45,999 respectively. I nearly choked when Ryan revealed that.

So, meaning to really see the difference between 768p and 1080p, you need a screen bigger than 50inch?

This applies to plasma only, they run on those native resolution per screen size. You can squeeze more pixel density into LCD TVs, hence why you see 37 and 40 inchers with 1080p.

As for whether you can see the difference between 720p/768p and 1080p at those sizes, that is a subjective matter. Personally, i could. Others may beg to differ.

Ok... Than i better get the 1080p 40" panel. I suppose the difference is noticeable since a number of people said they can see the diff between 720p and 1080p in 40 incher. I was looking for sharp 42" A63M since its got a good review, but we dont have it here in Malaysia. Was even thinking buying from bhphotos, but some forumers advice not to.
