I just don't understand 1 thing.

I am currently using E71 with unlimited 3G (rm58). It is capped at 3gb & i can use my phone like bb (immediately receive email via nokia messaging, chat using nimbuzz etc). Apart from that, i can also use it for tetthering etc.

If i switch to blackberry device with digi bis, what is the advantage compared to my current plan?
I only see 3 advantages
- no commitment for calls
- calls at rm0.15 cents instead of rm0.20 cents
- discounts

I do not see any other advantage. Digi bb smart plan also has 3gb cap & worse thing is it cant be used as modem etc which is a waste. Messaging wise it is same with my current phone.

If i terminate my current plan & subscribe to digi bb smart plan, would that benefit me?

Nope. BIS and 3G are both different service.
*
Erm, ok. I am just thinking of a way to make use of Blackberry internet service + internet connection via PC once in a while without any extra charges (like DiGi 3G plan). Any way of doing that?

By the way, can I use Mail for Exchange with Blackberry device?

Guys, digi has added the youtube issue in their FAQ.

Below is the content :

33. Can I use YouTube on the Blackberry?
Yes you can. Unlimited YouTube streaming is included as part of your Blackberry plan. In order to set up YouTube, please follow these instructions.

Press: Menu → Options → Advanced Options → TCP/IP → Tick the checkbox to enable APN (If you see it) and type in digistrm in your APN. Leave the username and password blank.

DO NOT use the diginet APN on a Blackberry or you will be charged 10sen/10kb

You can get the details from - http://www.digi.com.my/whatshot/promotions...berry/faq.do#33

I can send U a test mail. PM me the email U want to try smile.gif
*
You mean test Nokia messaging? I've already tested. I receive the e-mail (hear the sound) but when I click on it, mailbox not found in software.

If I have more than 1 e-mail, the emails I receive for 1234@yahoo.com will be under another e-mail inbox doh.gif

Can anyone test out whether BB have same problem too? I am planning to grab a Onyx if everything looks good.

hi guys,

newbie here. maybe its basic question but i just want confirmation frm the experience people.

here goes..

i m using onyx. switch frm celcom to digi bis rm 58. it takes about 24hrs for digi line to activate. but when it is activate services shown edge instead of EDGE. frm what i read on previous post its means my bis is not yet activated. is it correct?

so is that mean i need to wait until the EDGE appear? how long will its takes normally?

if i still browse in the edge will i be charge payu? but actually the digi staff didn't tell me anything on it. so i think i can just browse then complaint to them said that i do not bout it rite. huhu
*
Did you activate via phone or DiGi stores? I went directly to DiGi centre & it was immediately activated. If via call, then it will take max about 24 hours unless there is some problem.

You may also need to set your phone (as what the OCS person told me.) I had difficulties in receiving e-mails although it was showing EDGE until I set my phone.

hi viravira..thanks for ur respond.

hurmm..i did not activate it via call. i went to digi shop/centre maybe at jj tmn equine. it do take hrs to activate the digi line (as i before using celcom). do u mean i need to wait another 24hrs for the bis to activated? if that so i shall wait until tmrow since the digi line just active at 7pm today. if still no bis i will go report to digi. huhu

Added on January 28, 2010, 10:14 pmbtw..what do u mean by 'need to set your phone actually? care to share what is the setting pse.

Well, as I've seen from this thread, I am suppose to set the APN to blackberry.net but neither the guy who I met at DiGi centre nor the OCS guy told me anything about that. The guy from DiGi centre did the set up for my phone but he ticked enable APN setting but did not fill blackberry.net in APN. It was just left blank.

The person from OCS just asked me to go to menu > options > advance options > service book & then click menu to select "register services" or something like that. After that I received a sms from DiGi stating that it has been registered.

After that I was told to off & then on my phone again. Since then everything is working fine.

I am still not sure what will be the consequences if I left the APN blank.

viravira,
for the APN i already tick the enable APN. but i left default to epc.tmobile.com ( i read somewhere in the thread one user left it like that and it was fine).

for the menu > options > advance options > service book & then click menu to select "register services" - i cannot find anything to register etc.

huhu..nvm i will try check again later

stuffx,

in my case the new line activated for 24hrs. thats y im asking on the BIS  time to be activated. i will try restart my phone tomorrow and checkon the BIS signal.

thanks
*
As for the APN, I am not sure how would epc.tmobile.com will affect the charges I would suggest not to use that (btw, are you using BIS plans from Malaysia Telco?).

As for the 2nd one, you will not see "register services" anymore if it has already been done in your device. It will only be done once (unless you upgrade OS etc)

Wait wait.....that's not the end yet...hehe

I will be back with a bolder BB soon biggrin.gif

Added on February 3, 2010, 9:47 pmSomeone pls enlighten me. How do I release my pin? Call DiGi CS & ask them to release my pin right?

1st, I chat with OCS but he went missing after I ask him to release my pin. I was waiting for 5 minutes but I guess he ran back home.

Then I immediately called DiGi CS at 0162211800 but they said that I cannot release my pin by calling them. I need to go to the place I bought my phone & ask for release code. I then asked her what to do with the release code? She said that the new user need to key in the release code to unlock his BIS rclxub.gif

Can someone help me?

i noob for blackberry..but i think i want one and interested with digi smart plan for blackberry..
is this plan in package the blackberry + digi smartplan(contracts)
or just for the one that already have blackberry??

if contracts is it rm 58 monthly or there is an extra charge for the device(not cash)

i'm a confusing one..help please..
*
There is both contract & non-contract.

For non contract, you will be paying RM58 per month for the BIS service. There is no commitment for calls. You can buy BB Curve 8520 at RM1199 (optional)

For contract, you must subscribe to DiGi 50/150 plan + DiGi RM58 for 12/24 months. This is so that you get you BB Curve 8520 at discounted price.

for free email, it seem normal, almost instantly

but i never bother la, the bosses also never complained  biggrin.gif

Yeah, Bold 2 @ Onyx smile.gif

Hopefully they give a good deal. Even if they have something like maxis e.g. RM58 X 12 months, I don't mind if I can get the phone for a good price.

To all DiGi BB users, I would like to know if 3GB/month is sufficient for you? I would like to seek for your opinions before subscribing to this plan, my normal usage will be Facebook, WLM, pages surfing and emails reading.

Hopefully the new Bold 2 plan will be good.
*
I thought you were currently subscribed to DiGi's 3G unlimited plan? No?

DiGi BIS no tethering. You will not use even half of the bandwidth coz of that. So 3GB/mth will be more than enough smile.gif

No, I'm using DiGi Campus which offers unlimited download, has no 3GB or whatsoever restriction. smile.gif

Alright, that sounds good. smile.gif How does the monthly quota calculation taken into account?

Errm. Me pretty new to this BB thingy, can I say that I can't use my DiGi 3G on BB? I must subscribe to BIS? Because both are using different platforms? smile.gif
*
It is same like DiGi 3G - 1 month starting from your billing date

Yes, you need to subscribe to BIS to enjoy the "push" features smile.gif
In a way, you will enjoy it, coz other than e-mails, features like facebook / MSN Messenger / Yahoo! IM etc are equally great & I am always connected ( I don't have problems like how I faced in my Nokia E71).

So in which way does the 3GB quota will be utilised? Let's say if I stream a video from Youtube? Will that 3GB taken into calculation upon my streaming?

You are always connected to those messengers, will those take up 3GB quota too? smile.gif
*
There is no proper indication whether video streaming is part of the 3Gb bandwidth because it uses totally different APN & not under BIS. (so at the moment you can assume that it is part of the 3Gb smile.gif )

As for e-mails & being connected to messengers 24 hours, it will not finish up your 3Gb quota. This is because, there is no activity (download/upload) while your messenger is left idle. It starts using your bandwith when you are chatting/connecting etc.

Alright, that clears up all my doubts. smile.gif I'm quite convinced with the 3GB FUP. smile.gif
I shall anticipate the Bold 2 plan which will roll out on 1st March. smile.gif
Last question will be is EDGE speed good enough for BB? My hometown only has DiGi EDGE, so will it have very significant difference?
My DiGi Internet has very big difference la, it is like turtle speed back in hometown now. laugh.gif

p/s: It is 3GB not 3Gb. tongue.gif B = Byte. b = bit.
1 Byte = 8 bits

tongue.gif
*
Sorry, I think you are wrong. It is actually 3Gb & not 3GB smile.gif Image below is for your reference.

[attachmentid=1446257]

EDGE is good enough for everything except for heavy internet surfing. Choosing Bold 2 is definitely a good choice as you can set it to 2G mode if you are not going to do heavy surfing. I wanted to buy Bold 2 as well but the price is.. sweat.gif

I'm sure it is a typo, it is impossible to be 3Gb, even its DiGi Internet is 3GB. smile.gif
3Gb is way too little. smile.gif All telcos are offering GB and none of them is offering Gb. smile.gif

smile.gif I hope the plan package will be good. smile.gif
*
Maybe. I am sharing based on what I see as I do not want to mislead others (who knows, DiGi is actually only offering 3Gb for their BIS) wink.gif

Yes, you can apply for the RM58 smart plan. They will convert your current plan to the new plan. It is not compulsory to buy the BB phone smile.gif
