No, it has gone downhill since mid-90's after all the corruptions were revealed. Not only that, the mentality of our 'boys' are too shallow. Rather to play in the so-called "super league" rather than to make a name in Bundesliga(Div 2 tho).

But we can stop idiots feeling at home. There no rule saying you can't support something you adore. Manchester, Liverpool, Arsenal or Chelsea be it. It something nicer than Malaysia. Why ?

It is just our culture. We have no backbone. Our politician ask us to be 1 Malaysia? But the brutal truth of history shows we have been run over and over again. From the Portuguse, Dutch, Bugis, English, Japanese and anyone who just felt like conquering our geographical area. Heck, the person who started Malacca came from Indonesia. Blessed with the ignorant mindset, we get excited seeing something new. We surrender if being threat. We let it be just to be safe.

So let us be idiots. When Manchester come let us support them instead of our country. Afterall issit worth fighting for?

Yes, agree with you JonC. You know the funny thing is, we've changed like a dozen of national team coach, we've changed like hundreds of players since the glory days of 80's. We've changed a couple of team managers and even after the multiple team management and players change, our football still sucks. Funny thing is, the only 1 thing that has not changed is the FAM. The same guy or at least his son who's at the helm of FAM for the past 20 years or so. Don't they realise the problem is with FAM top guy and not the hundreds of people who's been part of the national football team be it coaches or players.

Im definitely not watching any local football till improvement is seen. People talk about how expensive it is to watch English football, be it flying to England or just the complaints about Astro increasing their subscription price. The way i see it, if they're playing good stuff, im enjoying the game and the thrills, i don't see a reason to complain. Even if it means saving up to fly to England to watch. Its the whole experience of watching a really good game, the atmosphere, the thrills when your team score or concede a goal. Is it worth putting in a couple of thousand of $, to me yes.  My point here is, would i pay a whole lot of money less, say RM15 to watch a local game. Answer is, NO. Thing is, they're playing lousy football and you end up feeling like you wasted your time and the RM15 to watch bad football, there's no thrill and enjoyment, so its money wasted more than anything else.

To put it in another perspective, i'd rather pay RM50 to have a really really good meal than to pay RM5 for shite meal.

Don't local matches clash with the EPL games on the telly? They usually play on weekends at about 845 pm am I right? I remember this becoz back when I was little I used to watch them play right after the 8 o clock news. Now, given the option of choosing between watching your favorite EPL team play or travelling to the stadium to support your local club, which would you choose? Slag my patriotism all you want but I know where I'll be come matchday.

the foreign players are not effective enough to improve the local players and the wages + allowances are damn high ...

so FAM remove them ...
