how often could you see a local game live on TV.. Only TV 1 n 2 showing it sometimes. Be honest, who the hell watched TV1 n 2 nowadays? Even on papers sports sections the main page is anything but local football.

it FAM fault for not doing a good job promoting the league. they should works harder to look for good sponsors. the quality went down when they pulled dunhill out from the sponsors.. the salary probs in most of the football team doesn't help either.

we have plenty of good players.. no doubt. only the management sucks IMHO. change the FAM then slowly rebuild it back.

No, it has gone downhill since mid-90's after all the corruptions were revealed. Not only that, the mentality of our 'boys' are too shallow. Rather to play in the so-called "super league" rather than to make a name in Bundesliga(Div 2 tho).
*
who exactly do you mean by choosing to play in local league rather than germany? i forgot la their name

QUOTE(ponomariov @ Nov 19 2009, 01:03 PM)
He/She has a point. And it is true if you run into some hooligans, that might be your fate. There 90% chances it won't happen.

But we can stop idiots feeling at home. There no rule saying you can't support something you adore. Manchester, Liverpool, Arsenal or Chelsea be it. It something nicer than Malaysia. Why ?

It is just our culture. We have no backbone. Our politician ask us to be 1 Malaysia? But the brutal truth of history shows we have been run over and over again. From the Portuguse, Dutch, Bugis, English, Japanese and anyone who just felt like conquering our geographical area. Heck, the person who started Malacca came from Indonesia. Blessed with the ignorant mindset, we get excited seeing something new. We surrender if being threat. We let it be just to be safe.

So let us be idiots. When Manchester come let us support them instead of our country. Afterall issit worth fighting for?
*
i think you are over the top by bringing the colonial powers and parameswara into football matters. the "idiots" as you called them acted like that because they were exposed to BPL way too much while there's nothing to cheer about local football. it's nothing to do with backbone.. etc etc.. well maybe lacking patriotism spirit but.. chill dude biggrin.gif

like i said, improved the quality of our league and better marketing it will be alive again like it once did in the past.

Yes, agree with you JonC. You know the funny thing is, we've changed like a dozen of national team coach, we've changed like hundreds of players since the glory days of 80's. We've changed a couple of team managers and even after the multiple team management and players change, our football still sucks. Funny thing is, the only 1 thing that has not changed is the FAM. The same guy or at least his son who's at the helm of FAM for the past 20 years or so. Don't they realise the problem is with FAM top guy and not the hundreds of people who's been part of the national football team be it coaches or players.

Im definitely not watching any local football till improvement is seen. People talk about how expensive it is to watch English football, be it flying to England or just the complaints about Astro increasing their subscription price. The way i see it, if they're playing good stuff, im enjoying the game and the thrills, i don't see a reason to complain. Even if it means saving up to fly to England to watch. Its the whole experience of watching a really good game, the atmosphere, the thrills when your team score or concede a goal. Is it worth putting in a couple of thousand of $, to me yes.  My point here is, would i pay a whole lot of money less, say RM15 to watch a local game. Answer is, NO. Thing is, they're playing lousy football and you end up feeling like you wasted your time and the RM15 to watch bad football, there's no thrill and enjoyment, so its money wasted more than anything else.

To put it in another perspective, i'd rather pay RM50 to have a really really good meal than to pay RM5 for shite meal.
*
you are wrong to judge local game "bad" football. i went to watched occasionally and it's quite entertaining. granted, it may not as entertaining as Astro's poison known as BPL but still... it's pretty good.

(national team is shite - no argument)

people tend to assume the typical malaysian league is shite.. my say is, try go to the stadium and watch before u say anything. the stadium may be empty and quite but the most important is the game itself. give the league a chance. it may grow on you.

rm10 you can chose any seat you like.. gud wat?

Don't local matches clash with the EPL games on the telly? They usually play on weekends at about 845 pm am I right? I remember this becoz back when I was little I used to watch them play right after the 8 o clock news. Now, given the option of choosing between watching your favorite EPL team play or travelling to the stadium to support your local club, which would you choose? Slag my patriotism all you want but I know where I'll be come matchday.
*
that's what TS would like to bring forth but somehow he messed up the word tongue.gif

liga super weekend match either on friday or saturday. rarely on sunday. i won't slag your patriotism but when there's intl break you should try and go watch. they start back on end January i think.

all this barking about local football not good is somewhat not fair to the league.

have you guys ever go watching it live at stadium? if you said yes, how many times you actually go? at least try watching a few times before making a judgment. most of us have been pampered with the quality of BPL and conclude Liga Super is bad because it is not the same standard as them. please lower down your standard a bit and be neutral.. i bet you'll think differently.

you mention Karel Stromsik twice. it should be Zoran Nikolic biggrin.gif

anyway, FAM really screwed the league up when forbidding foreign players play here. and Gov make it worst when they revoked the tobacco company rights to sponsor sporting event.

current FAM need to thrown out and replace with people who actually knows football and loves the game. please no politician.

the foreign players are not effective enough to improve the local players and the wages + allowances are damn high ...

so FAM remove them ...

no money which results from their mismanagement and failed marketing. if you have the chances growing up in the late '80s and '90s then you should know almost every weekend stadium merdeka is full (i rarely missed the game back then).. the same goes to other stadiums. heck, even when KL played the stadium almost packed. FAM failed to take this chances to elevate the status of our local league. bad decisions after bad decisions and the bribery scandal killing the quality of our national league. when it is clear that FAM top management is no longer relevant, they refused to step down. instead they arrogantly stayed.

football is not a career in Malaysia and that is a fact

dude.. depend one which state/club you play, a semi decent player will earn at least 5k a month is better than most of us here. few of my friends who playing states/club now rocking at least 6k excluding extras bonus. heck, the harimau muda (under 22) is earning 2.5k.. it's damn good if you ask me. it's a matter of how well you control your financial.

involvement of other races really is scarce.. i dont believe it caused by politics or racism (at least not within the team.. FAM not sure la)..

maybe just because they think football is not a profitable career like a poster strongly said a few post above.

well, at least there's still multiracial teams in the futsal tourney..
