Honestly, I don't see why everyone is so concerned over his comments.

a) His is merely an opinion, one of many. Opinions are free which is why everyone is so willing to part with them.
b) Who cares if we're buying into commercialism? You reckon he doesn't buy greeting cards from hallmark? How about a Christmas tree from 1 Utama? Fact is that we have a right to decide what we want to spend on?
c) They don't give a shite about fans over here? Hmm I'm not convinced. I've been to Liverpool and spoken to fans over there over a couple of pints. It was the reverse for me. Those I met were impressed that I made the long journey over and that I knew my stuff. I can however emphathise with them given the number of OOTs around the world these days who don't feel history or knowledge of the club is important.

In the end who cares what others think? What matters is not what he says, it's what you think of what he said.

I admit not going to the stadium since the days Selangor were a powerhouse when we had the likes of Zsolt Bucs, Karel Stromsik, P. Maniam, A. Jayakanthan, Pavel Korejcik, Karel Stromsik, Ismail Ibrahim, K.Gunalan etc in the team but the difference between then and now is stark! I tell you what, the decision to remove foreigners from the league and more importantly turn it into a pro league has contributed to our crappiness.

One doesn't have to be a rocket scientist to see there is a problem. Our teams suck in the Asian Champions League and our national team sucks big time.

you mention Karel Stromsik twice. it should be Zoran Nikolic biggrin.gif

anyway, FAM really screwed the league up when forbidding foreign players play here. and Gov make it worst when they revoked the tobacco company rights to sponsor sporting event.

current FAM need to thrown out and replace with people who actually knows football and loves the game. please no politician.

That's right, thanks for correcting me smile.gif Also remember a certain Zsolt Bucs (pronounced George Bush).

I think foreigners can only add to the quality of the league. At least they can impart some knowledge onto our local lads. We have aspiring youth with talent and ability, but they ultimately succumb to the greed and corruption that has a firm grip over our local league. The mentality of the players is another contributing factor. Geeze there are just so many things wrong, diet, training, etc?

What about the Chinese and Indian footballing community? Why have they decided to stay away from football? We were at our best when we had a multi cultural team eh? Soh Chin Aun, Mokhtar Dahari, Santokh Singh, Arumugam... these 4 alone are from diverse racial backgrounds. How many Indian or Chinese do you see in football these days? It isn't that footballers don't get paid enough.

Staying away from the stadium's is a good thing if you ask me. It shows the FAM that we have had enough of their shananigans. The supporters will not accept an inferior product anymore. It isn't about being unpatriotic. Support the local league? Go to the stadium? Pah! Respect is earned, not given and the FAM do not have my respect at all!

hmm...therein lies the root of the problem? imho (and i might be wrong for i have not followed the local football scene for a while now) the fact that the other races no longer seem interested in playing the game is both a shame and a wasted opportunity.

surely a squad of talented, multi racial malaysian boys gunning for world cup qualification will be able to whip up more goodwill and national pride than any expensive and supposedly expansive 1Malaysian slogan the government's PR people can conjure.

It isn't my intention to stir up controversy (or is it?) but are the other races staying away because of racial politics? I mean it's practiced in every other facet of nation isn't it? I wonder why they no longer seem interested? Do we practice meritocracy in football? We sure as hell don't anywhere else.

We can sit here and complain all we want. The thing is the powers that be don't care about the state of our football so long as they get to stuff their fat faces, so why should we?
