A question to PhD holders

1. Would you guys quit studying when you see money?(for instance MLM which supposedly can earn 6 figure income a month)

2. When you have studied so hard to get into PhD level with years of experience in your studies, would you just quit it completely?

To me, it doesn't make any sense, why would you study so high when you can start earning that money right after finish your SPM or a little higher education right? Once you are at a PhD level, you wouldn't just leave it, like dropping what you studied to do MLM, you would like do research and stuff like that.

What do you Master's degree or PhD holders think?

I'm just so confused.

Thanks.

Because some people study for the sake of interest and self-improvement.

Not necessarily for money.

I've no PhD.

But then, if I'm going to have one, I'll do it for the fun of researching and getting to know people who is related in my research. Travel around, expenses all on the university who sponsors my research.

And of course, if you're talking materially, PhD holders love the title though. A Dr. And the importance they hold in the institution.

Yeah, that's the word I was finding. satisfy.

No matter how much money you get, it's won't satisfy you internally..
Something like Einstein, he just works and study, money is no issue.

Yeah, in life you need money to live but you won't be satisfied no matter how much you get.

yes... Lot of people obtain satisfaction from money.. but it wont last long... the satisfaction from money... soon, you`ll feel empty... merz, BMW, rolex can give you euphoric satisfaction.. but they wont last.. soon, you feel bored of it...

my cousin focus on research on plants in biotech... even he back to hometown, he still extracts speciments for his research

Haha, true. My bro does this MLM and keeps telling me to invite my friends for the briefing, it's so damn annoying.

Quite a number of my friends do MLM as a so-called side business, I too hate them calling me up just to invite me for an exclusive preview of their product which everyone would buy.

Ok, MLM is not the topic here.

Awakened_Angel, you cousin is a true studious human. Reminds me of my aunt when she was pursuing her PhD, she studies every night after putting her kids to sleep, sometimes when I'm down watching TV, she would come and ask me what do I think about a certain topic(maybe it's just to open up her closed mind which focused too much). I really admire her, she's not in for the money, she just loves it. More like a deep interest.

Even now at 38 years old, she does research on herself to find out on certain things. It's amazing to see to what extend she pushes it.

I asked the question because there are quite a number of so-called PhD holders claiming to be from prestigious universities who does MLM.

I'm not satisfied with their response. They say that the money is big here, but when I ask "why did you pursue PhD or heck, a Master's degree for it matters?" they just give me a black stare.

LOL! That's because you seen through their true natures! Cos' they are most likely lying about it!

But if they give you those black stares then they simply lack conviction in what they believe in. Ouch.

after getting a BEng in Engineering, I see degree/post grad are mere pakaging to yourself.. when it comes to career, it needs street smart and livelong learning...

possessing a PhD doesn`t mean you can stop learning when grad...
