I've been searching for lighting for my home-to-be. No plaster ceiling, only cornice. I am looking for 2 ceiling lights to install between ceiling fan.

I saw a very nice light just now, combination of LED and Halogen with 3 modes; Halogen ONLY, LED ONLY, Halogen + LED

The shops i went to give me conflicting information. If I made Halagon my main light in Living room, will it last long? Some say I can open 4 hours continues ONLY, some say 6 to 8 hours, while some say no problem, whole day also wont burnt. Can someone enlighten me?

On top of that, is LED light easily burnt? Because according to the shop, once one of it burnt, the whole LED will not light which i think is right if I remember correctly during my schooling day.

Sounds like bad maintenance, smartest choice is energy saving but I just like this light... icon_question.gif

night club yes..... House no.
Seriously those light looks nice on it's own but never really functional. Human mood are affected by certain light wavelengths. That's why a cosy environment always use warm light that give slightly orange yellow hue.
Halogen are very hot n higher wattage for brightness of energy saving bulb. LED is cool to operate n low wattage but they still poor in providing full lighting.

LED will last much longer than conventional lamp, if the electrical design does not screw it up. Also, why would the other LEDs not light up if one of it burnt? A proper circuitry will not have such issue unless all the LEDs are connected in series to the power source.

halogen is rated at 2000hrs or less. go do your own maths for years of service.

What about Halogen? Can I treat is as normal light and open as per normal ie whole night etc? It will be my main light in living room

one very important aspect is LED could not really be rated for its color rendering. halogen and compact flourescent have excellent color rendering.
