my friend had the same problem, sent it back to Maxis, and waited 4 weeks, got a sms/call from Maxis asking him to pick up, and sadly he got back the same set of his, reason is because he jailbroken his iPhone and void the software warranty, so he got back his old same set without fixing the problem.. so thats a waste of 4 weeks..and what he has now is a faulty iPhone....how sad..

Under those circumstances, it is your friend who is at fault for not restoring the phone before sending in for warranty claim. But what I don't understand is why it took Maxis 4 weeks to return the unit.

Not totally in defense of the iPhone but from experience, the other equivalent and I use this term loosely, phones have more problems which are even more difficult to rectify most times. Tell me also, which other phone has a one-for-one exchange policy?

Lastly, if you actually know what to do instead trial and error, there should not be too much problems affecting the iPhone. In any event, which phone, for that matter, product which does not have problems?

Then isn't it a non starter by sending in a jailbroken iPhone for warranty claim?

Maxis service is unbelievable!

Unbelievable terrible...but why am I surprised?!?

Called them up regarding my replacement.  They promised they will get feedback for me but they never get back to me.  Every time I called, they are jsut so blur and kept pushing the blame somewhere.

I am not instigating but as consumers we have certain rights. Refer to the relevant authorities and you will see things moving......

This is not only for Maxis users, but any units that you sent in for warranty claims that has been jailbroken will have the warranty voided.

This is partly due to too many cases being given 1:1 replacements, even when its merely just a software issue

I don't think you can claim under warranty for software problems.....

hmm.. let say now currently is the new boatroom that if anything happen like battery problem can't start up can we send for warranty even is JB unit??

bcoz with the new boatroom once restart have to JB again correct?
can't detect JB unit?

JB'ed iPhones will render the warranty null and void. So, before sending it in for warranty claims, make sure the phone is restored to its original state. Once restored, no one is the wiser as to what you did with the iPhone earlier.

As someone pointed out, if you can't switch on the iPhone, how to revert back to original status....

I understand that they want to take time to verify the problem before sending back replacement but I am surprised now at this time and age, they are taking an awful long long time.... doh.gif

Yeah, I also pointed out that by sending a JB'ed iPhone in for warranty claim is a non-starter. When they discover that it is, the phone will be blacklisted permanently thereby rendering it without any more warranty. Isn't it better therefore to get some techie to get the phone up and running and only then, if necessary, send in the unit? Otherwise not only do you not get the phone repaired/replaced, you lose your warranty forever.
