noob question why most of the guide use itunes 8.2? it does not matter which version of itunes you use?

update:
I used my itunes 9.0 on my friends to JB my iphone using the new Pwnage tools  I on iPhone 3g 8gb 3.1.3 maxis set  just ssh does not work keep getting ssh_identification error going to dig around |
