hye everybody!

back in august 2008 i bought an xbox 360 elite which has been banned from live recently due to the illegal firmware. lucky my gamertag is not being suspended haha and i would like to buy an arcade jasper soon.

1. can i still use the 120gb hard disk taken from my banned elite? i am worry and i don't want to purchase another xbox 360 just to get another banned because using that 120gb hard disk.

2. can i still use my previous gamertag in the hdd along side all files on it? e.g my dlc such lost and damned for gta iv. ya i know those save game files were created while i was using gta iv pirate disk but soon i want to get a vanilla version of jasper + genuine gta iv. can i still use the dlc with my genuine gta iv soon?

help me i want to download tony and gay whatsoever another dlc for my beloved gta iv!!!

1. Yes you can. If your profile is corrupted, you just need to recover gamer tag

2. Yes provided you always log into Xbox live. If you want to play it offline, then you have to do license transfer in order to play your DLC offline.

1. yes.. gamertag ban would be more painful.. a banned console can re-user the 120GB hard disk, like what i have done ... like 3 days ago

what im experiencing so far is you need to INSTALL all the games again to hard disk coz u moved it from 1 xbox to another xbox, thats all

2. yup can use and together with their DLC and stuff. im not sure about videos and audios, coz i dont have those in my hard disk b4 the "migration"

anyway thanks again guys! you have just 'saved' me from getting a ps3 slim! but then again don't know when will ps3 got such dlc for gta iv lol
but the most important thing i can play my damned and lost without losing another microsoft points again!!!

Say, wanna ask that the license migration need what kind of info or tools ?

TS: btw, your gamertag from banned console will show as corrupt when u move to new console + game save. Delete it (I mean only the profile not the save and recover via live )

Erm, the achievement will be updated prior u being banned which mean mb 1 second/minute before u got banned
Don't touch any game when u plug the HDD into new legit xbox 360. Delete the existing gamertag and recover gamertag first. Then your save game will work again
What I heard from other ppl from others forum: if you try to load the game without process the recovering first, then the save game will 100% corrupt.

ok soon after get new jasper:
1. attach my beloved 120gb hard disk
2. switch on my new xbox 360
3. delete my gamertag but not the files (dlc, save game files, pictures, avatars item etc) associated with it
4. switch off xbox 360

5. plug in network cable
6. switch on xbox 360
7. recover gamertag

hope everything works fine then... or else what's the use of buying new xbox 360 if all my dlc have to purchase again, and all games have to start from 0%

You need to go to the official website in Xbox. There will tell you what you need to do to transfer your license from old box to new box.

Well I'm not sure because from what I read the save game wont corrupt on a new console and only corrupt on the old console if you try playing after you get ban.

Or you can just try login to live and see whether it works or not your profile.

Jcsy : I'm still around but hardly do any post and im lazy. LOL. Good to see you as well. I might update the HDD guide when i'm on holiday. Kinda busy.

i think i am going to do like this:
1. using the banned xbox 360, delete my gamertag on the hard disk but not the files associated with the gamertag

2. recover my gamertag via live through the new xbox 360
3. attach the previous hard disk
4. move my recovered gamertag file from 512mb memory into hard disk

i think all the files will assigned back to my gamertag then. or is there any other safe method? thanks everybody!

Just remember that do not move any old/new gamertag to the banned console as it will become corrupted once you move from the banned console to any other console.

That banned console is likely to become a useless console unless you are using it as single player console without caring about the gamer-score or the install to HDD ability.

is that mean:

1. gamertag from unmodded console ---> banned console = corrupted

2. gamertag from banned console ---> unmodded console = not corrupted

sorry guys i have to ask this again because i am so worry that my xbox 360 will be banned again because i will be using the same 120gb hard disk

i wish it's simple as 1-2-3 deattach the hard disk from banned console and just attach it like that to the new unmodded console

i have asked Djinn but he said no arcade in his stock. my friend said that here i can get as low as rm990 for an arcade but after spent few hours here i couldn't found that price. must be my friend want to 'play-play' with me only

(i) Banned console --> any new console whether banned or not banned or modded or non-modded = result: corrupt

(ii) Any new console whether not banned or modded or non-modded --> Banned console = result: ok

Note: but once take the gamertag out from the BANNED console, it will corrupt like the (i) scenario.

So all you need to do is:
1. delete the gamertag on your banned console
2. Unplug the 120GB HDD from your banned console
3. Plug into a new legit console
4. Connect to live and recover your gamertag
5. Done All save file works as normal.

No, the entire banning exercise is to prevent tempered console from using XBOX LIVE service only. not to the gamertag.

That's the reason for corrupt profile, inability to update GS, cannot install game to HDD & other stuff related directly or indirectly to XBOX LIVE

any unmodded XBOX360 console can do so. So your answer is yes.

Just that if your console can play those RM8/RM10 pirated copy, there're chances that your console to be banned by Microsoft later on.

So far the banned console will behave like what is discussed in this thread.

Never use a pirated copy....the risk is there.

But in Malaysia...... sealed console is hard to get as it's not officially launched in Malaysia.

Some low morale shop will even make fun of you for obtaining original and trying to sell those game with higher than PS3 games price.

I'm still waiting for the day to come....when XBOX LIVE is official in Malaysia.....
