hi all

i juz bought a samsung p2370h today and watched a movie at night..

noticed got backlight bleeding all over the edges.

is this normal for this model?
*
if P-series have backlight bleeding, then i assume the B-30 series have bleeding problem also, as confirmed by previous post by a forummer.

Anyway, backlight bleeding will be very obvious if u which off the light and watch movie, this is applicable to almost all lcd monitor nowadays.

dell st2410 might have less bleeding problem because only 2 CCFL tube is used, unlike normal 4 CCFL in samsung. So, st2410 might have lower brightness compare to samsung.

In short, u can say that the more brightness u want, the more chance u have backlight bleeding problem. Not sure though for LED backlight. But in computer world, most of the time the price u pay is the quality u get.

Yeah, that's the expression I have on my 2333SW, I was like... WHAT THE.... *CENSORED*, like almost every single bad words came out, and only went back to shop after 2 days, and they said can't 1-on-1 exchange after 1 day, oh dear... then I also have a look at the very same model, having the same issue too, just need to look very carefully and very near to notice it. This same goes to every P series that they have on shelve, most expensive P2370 also same doh.gif

Also looking from the side of 2333SW with black screen, notice also brightness does not distribute evenly across screen, advertised 5ms is actually 16ms upon using LCD tester..... sigh... I can only comment, that's what you get for what you paid T.T

Was looking forward the stylish XL2370, but... no VGA port, which I want for my Intel Atom (switch between use).

It seems Samsung has develop cheaper TN with the expenses of build quality, wish they improve on that, and also, legacy VGA port should be there to accommodate wider consumer (hey, I still using VGA card duh!!)
*
may i know what kind of LCD tester u used? software based or hardware based? sometimes the value is accurate only if you set it to its native resolution (1080p). But I'm surprised u choose the 2333sw as it's replacement B2330h model is a newer, or maybe u get the monitor very long ago? But sadly both monitor has review good and bad review.

I guess the last hope for Samsung is that XL series monitor. If that also disappoint you, then we can start switching benchmark monitor.

Anyway, because of recent backlight news, I'm about to switch my target samsung b2330h to Dell st2410 this Pc fair. Both are about the same price.

hi guys
currently i am looking for LCD monitor and below are my choice to be finalize

Dell ST Series ST2410
Samsung B2330H

which you guys think is a better deal ?
both also without USB rite?
*
wow, amazingly your choice is exactly same as mine. Well, samsung B-30 series is relatively new monitor, whereas Dell st2410 is a half-year-old product.

samsung: reputable for product quality, but have backlight problem (recent year the quality has dropped and the price u pay is for the brand, coincidentally samsung boss said the latter part himself), has calibration software.

dell: reputable for after-sales-service, has what we call the legendary rma service quality status lol.., but panel might not be as good as samsung, less brightness than B2330H,

This is what i might do, I'll go pc fair to find out whether Samsung got offer or not (lowest i see for B2330H is rm619), if it gets lower, then I might consider it. As for Dell, it has promotion till 25th April, so I think i have plenty of time to ditch Samsung for Dell (the price from website is rm679, but if you're a regular customer, ask for discount).

Yes, both monitor doesn't come with USB. anyway y u need usb port when ur CPU should have the port as well?

good! wait for u for the review then. Well, if you have HDMI or DVI cable, it is recommended if you use it. There are some people having problem with VGA at high resolution.

This is the Samsung B2330 Monitor full report:

I finally purchased the B2330 at Pc fair today at the price of Rm613.

This is the whole story:
1. The setting up of the monitor is pretty easy (easier than stacking lego bricks). However, the monitor is vulnerable to vibration. So don't shake it or knock it especially at the corner.
2. I purposely connect a HDMI cable to my ATI 5750 graphic card. The HDMI cable (not provided) is Giraffe brand and I assume it's quite high end since it comes with my Sony Bravia Full HD Tv.
3. Starting up windows, I notice fonts are not sharp. I thought it's normal since I haven't do any calibration.
4. So I started calibration and I notice that the monitor detect the input as AV, not PC and there's no way to fix it. After 1 hour calibration on LCD Calibration Website, I am very very sad because all the contrast, gamma and sharpness did not pass the test. Any adjustment doesn't improve the picture quality.
5. I feel very sad and angry. I don't support Samsung anymore!
6. Changed the HDMI cable to DVI cable and restart the computer.
7. Upon starting windows, I immediately notice fonts and colours are super sharp and clear.
8. Go to the calibration website again and made some minor adjustment, 10 minutes finish everything.
9. I'm now super happy and satisfied. I still support Samsung.
10. Now watching Transformer 2 at 1080p.

Moral of the story:
1. HDMI from graphic card is not compatible with Samsung B2330. I think the HDMI port is meant for PS3 or Xbox 360, not directly from graphic card.
2. DVI cable provide best quality. The first time with HDMI cable, you can notice all the clock and phase run-away, and have to go ATI to adjust overscan. When change to DVI cable, no need to do anything!
3. In summary :
HDMI cable: font not sharp, clock and phase out of sync, screen not compatible with 'ATI overscan', screen flicker, got even worse after windows calibration, NO WAY to improve picture quality.
DVI cable: no need to do anything on windows, fully utilize the whole panel. Just do some minor brightness and contrast at the 'on-screen' menu.
(there's nothing wrong with HDMI technology, my Astro Beyond is using it, it's just that this monitor don't treat HDMI as PC input.)

For those who are going to got this monitor this pc-fair:
1. use the DVI provided, no need to spend money get a HDMI cable.
2. Open the Photo Friday website and leave it open. Don't do anything even the contrast doesn't match.
3. Go to LCD Calibration Website and do some minor calibration to suit your taste.
4. Go back to Photo Friday website and you'll notice it's now at optimal adjustment.

This is the detail pros and cons:
Pros : colour is good (white doesn't look blue-ish), gives you optimal performance after minor calibration.
Cons: got back-light bleeding if you're in a dark room, HDMI is more compatible with console rather than PC, touch-sensitive adjustment (you need to have a gentle finger), most function such as MagicEco, Magic Bright, MagicEco are all useless to achieve perfect picture quality, the screen cannot be tilt/swivel.

Still, highly recommended!

Looking to get an LCD around RM700 but can't decide whether to get Dell 2209WA or ST2410.

Guys, which one should I take? Size or IQ?  rclxub.gif
*
it all depends on u, if u watch movie a lot, then size is a priority. If u do a lot of photo-editing, then get 2209WA.

I actually do both photo editing and watch movies on the PC. Darnit, if only it is possible to see the difference in IQ between the two. Then it'll be easier to decide if the IQ is really worth the 2".
well, if you're a professional photo editor, 2209WA might suit u more since the colour does not fade with ages that fast compared to normal TN-panel (as in the case of one of the forummer where white colour has faded to yellowish).

This link gives you the review of Dell 2209WA from HardForum.

guys, which one is better? Dell U2711 or samsung p2770h? both 27" but the price difference quite huge.

Purpose : Watch movie
Dell U2711
Samsung P2770H
*
of course Dell U2711 is better (much much better) because it uses IPS panel. But since you're using it for watching movie only (not professional photo editing), then Samsung P2770h is good enough for you dy...
