Office use, so far, not encounter any problem, touchwood. Just the second unit got dead pixel, which had been exchanged 1 for 1.

How to test the tinted issue then?

Hi there,
How do know the unit got some dead pixels? How do you test it? Looking at each pixel individually?  ohmy.gif lol
*
Just set the whole screen into white/black/blue/red colour, if there is dead pixel, you can see one dot like a dirt one.

My experience on the dead pixel, I only found it after a day, once I read some document,, somehow taught there is a dirt on screen, so try to rub it off, but found only, it cannot be rubbed off. Then set the screen into colour as mentioned then found it.

Only if states got cash coupon, then can get further discount, just like 2209WA currently, selling at 759 - cash coupon 50 = RM709

Exactly, response time if not an issue with IPS, even with my old 4 yrs old S-IPS 2007WFP I do not experience any sort of ghosting with this monitor.
*
since LCD response time improve to below 16ms/8ms, ghosting effect is not much an issue nowadays, although some even go to 2ms, which I don't think 99.9% people can notice the difference between 2ms,4ms or even 6ms if there is no spec being printed on the box or lcd.

LCD screen measurements have always been done diagonally. Meaning if you use a 30" monitor, it would expand both horizontally and vertically accordingly.
*
I think he means, nowadays lcd screen become more and more 'elongated' with changing from 4:3 -> 16:10 -> 16.9.

So even screen size become bigger from 19" (back with 4:3) to now 24" popular 16:9, it just means screen become longer instead bigger. biggrin.gif

Touchscreen look cool. But question is: Are you going to "touchscreen" everytime?
*
Your screen will be full of your oilly finger print. biggrin.gif
or play game time, touch too hard (when want quick and hard move), screen tumbled. biggrin.gif

Touch screen is useful for cash registered machine type, order key in, but ordinary computer usage, it could be your hand will be tired fast, as your hand won't rest on table everytime you touch unlike using mouse. While your hand work more (to touch from left to right in a 23" screen you hand move more compared to mouse scrolling) which could be tireness for the hand as well.

Touchpad in laptop is problematic even until now. So may be explore the touchscreen on laptop is the area should be look for? instead of desktop.

Never go back to TN...but Samsung got faster respond time than Dell.Though Samsung is LED backlight with TN panel.Wondering is LED got any advantage over Dell U2410.

hmm.gif  hmm.gif
*
I don't think at current point of tech, response time a very important issue already. My opinion only.

As I have 2209WA e-IPS with response time of 6ms and 2ms Samsung TN panel, I cannot see any difference or ghosting. While viewing angle, picture colour quality has contrast difference.

I would say the most important issue is about budget or cost on whether selecting TN or IPS, because price gap is still big gap between TN and IPS.

Thanks for your reply. But the Samsung XL2370 and Dell U2410 is seperate by abt RM550.Really troublesome to choose which LCD. rclxub.gif

It is down to individual budget, there is no right and wrong.

QUOTE(Mr.LKM @ Dec 28 2009, 08:47 PM)
May I know what's the most cost effective IPS monitor available in the market now?
*
Cheapest IPS should be e-ips Dell 2209WA, Rm750
Edited : it is not a true IPS, but at least get rid of viewing angle issue and better colour.

QUOTE(hpares @ Dec 28 2009, 10:49 PM)
Wonder which shop at lowyat got demo IPS panel LCD? Isit really that good? Would like to see 1.
*
I don't think shops will display IPS lcd or keep stock on IPS panel mainly due to cost wise. It is hard to sell an IPS compared to TN because price differentiate simply too big.
24" IPS cost above RM1500, while 24" TN cost RM700-800, it is very hard for shops to sell.

No,I am considering buying a new LCD for my new rig(coming soon). Now struggling on whether to get XL2370 or Dell U2410.Though I found out that both got their own advantages but the price different is about RM550 as the Dell offer expire tomorrow. cry.gif
Knowing people said that U2410 got some minor problem I am still wondering what should I buy. hmm.gif  icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif
*
The offer could be renewed one. The so called "instant cash redeemption" promotion always got one, from experience, just amount might be changed, could be lower or higher.

The real offer is when they have cash coupon one, which after expired, no more.

Previously the U2410 got RM200 cash coupon, which only RM1599.

I don't know, but my opinoin, it looks like scratches instead of dead pixel. (as it looks elongated, instead of dot)

Cleaning it with towel won't result in dead pixel generally.

That's weird, general dead pixel only stay in one colour, won't be like that.

My opinion, may be the action of wiping, physically 'destroy' the pixel.

Nope, not always like that.. sometimes you get inverted colors. wink.gif

Then there's also the "weak pixel" where the colors are slightly dim.. I had that on my monitor and fixed it by tapping the spot with a dried ball point pen (eventually disappeared). tongue.gif
*
The proper word should be disorientated pixel, as it is not dead yet so not classified as dead pixel. biggrin.gif

what the point to use HDMI port on monitor without speaker?

Many people also said HDMI and DVI the different is one provide sound one without sound.

I am using DELL monitor and come with the HDMI port also but without speaker.
*
It is pointless to use HDMI if without speaker. While generally attached speaker is so so only.

Sorry for being noob yah.
But can I conclude that IPS panel's colour accuracy will 'last' longer than TN panel?
Cuz things old already sure will lari a bit one marh. laugh.gif

From what I see now, I can't really tell the difference between a new TN panel and a new IPS panel. So, I was wondering is it that after few years only will show the difference?
*
Don't quite understand the question.

IPS better colour accuracy is due to different technology in term of blocking/filtering the backlight as compared to TN. It is not about old or new that produce better colour.

Put side by side, can see the difference between a TN and IPS.

Upgrading from TN panel to an IPS panel such as Dell UltraSharp U2711 is very worth it (if you can afford the hefty price). You'll notice the differences immediately (and once you have used IPS panels, you don't want to ever go back to TN panels). brows.gif

Since then, when look at LCD for consideration, first look is what panel. laugh.gif
