hello all, first of all a round of applause to all of you that created and share your experience here so that a first timer to HK would know where to visit and stuff..thanks a lot..

fyi, i'll be going to HK 6-10mac with my 2 sister+friend (sadly there's no sale during that time). so I was wondering since I already there, I wanted to go by Shenzen also so could you guys help me the procedure that I need to prepare like visa, how to go there from HK.

and guys, to you think I able to arrive at HK at 8pm (specifically at my hotel, Dragon Hostel) after ferry ride from Macau?
u see, I book flight via AAsia from lcct to macau at 5.15pm (according to the boarding pass) then I thought straight away to HK because macau hotel > expensive..isit possible?

thanks a lot

If u have > 6days, follow my earlier itineries by staying most of the time in China...

Macau>>Zhuhai>>Guangzhou>>Shenzhen>>Hong Kong>>Macau...just skip paas thru Macau & Hong kong to avoid expensive hotels.  biggrin.gif  or the other way round Macau >>HK..Shenzhen>>Guangzhou./Zhuhai>>Macau  biggrin.gif

Visa to China, u can apply at China Consulate office at 1st flr of Bank of China /OSK building Jln Ampang. Or u go to any trvel agent & pay them to amke for you (Commision is ~RM80 per passport excluding Visa fee of ~ RM30, >RM100 for multiple entries..  (That's 2008 pricing)

From Ferry terminal in HK to Shenzhen just follow the MRT route to Lohu station in New territory. U will be in Shenzhen once passing the immigration border.

Hi all, me and my sister will be off to HK this march..
about the accommodation, i think you guys could consider Hop Inn Hostels.
They just open end of 2009 i think..the room is super cool because it got 9 different theme for it.
plus the owner,Wilson is so kind. Give it a try. If only they got enough room for us, unfortunately its already fully booked by the time we go there.
here's the link..Hope it helps..

Hello norsha22, me and my sister also going to HK on march..which date do you go specifically? I think you better book the hotel asap as I've book mine and turn out the hotel with value for money is so limited. First we choose 2 hostel ( dragon hostel - http://www.dragonhostel.com/) and (hopp inn hostels - http://hotel.zoapiere.com/)
we love the hopp in but no more room left and we straight away book dragon hostel coz the last room they have on our arrival date (6/3).
I've survey few muslim restaurant, they quite far but thanks to HK MRT, I think we can get there without any problem.
FYI, most muslim restaurant can be found at Wan Chai district. If you want few names and direction pm me ok.
Hope it helps smile.gif

If anyone want a little bit about my itenary..feel free to ask.. smile.gif

hi there...

this is the hotel info :
Cityview Hotel Kowloon
23 Waterloo Road  Kowloon  Hong Kong

The Hotel Cityview is located in Yau Mai Tei on Kowloon. It is conveniently located just a few minutes from Tsim Sha Tsui, 15 minutes to Central Hong Kong and 45 minutes drive to the airport. It is close to shopping centres and the MTR is just a 5-minute walk away, with the closest exit D. Other public transportation such as buses are also available nearby. The superior rooms are medium, but do…

General
After the renovation made in year 2008, this hotel could consider as 4-star first class hotel and has a good and convenient location for business and leisure with easy access to the all modes of transportation. This property also has a large size public pool, GYM with no additional charge for in-house guest by showing room key. Guest can check the opening hour on the spot. (KC Feb09) *Previous known as YMCA International House*

Anyone stay in this hotel???I think this is the good hotel right...

Added on February 23, 2010, 9:27 amif you want to stay at central by exact, you might want to consider this hotel (The Garden View – YWCA Hotel) the rate based on Agoda.com is from RM302/night)
hotel nearby Disneyland is much much expensive btw.
Most of the lyn forumer suggest Dragon Hostel, I also will be staying there during my trip next week..
Also try to look out for Hopp Inn Hostel..Why hostel? because HK rate is very very high...if you want to save up on accommodation..you have to stay at hostel instead.
Their MTR is efficient enough that you don't have to stay closest to Disneyland, Ocean Park to get good rates..smile.gif

Do u mind to post some info of ur backpacking trip?I am going there next month... smile.gif Staying at Dragon Hostel too... smile.gif

gstrapinuse, what exactly do you want to know?
about the activities or location?
just ask me the question, i will answer you in detail. coz i dunno where to start
here's briefly about our itenary:

day1: arrive in Macau airport at 5, transfer to Macau ferry terminal by cab(hkd70 with luggage).
take new world first ferry(turbo-jet is better) but we wanted to save some $$ so we choose to go at Kowloon Ferry Terminal instead of HK-China Ferry Terminal.
Arrive in kowloon F.Terminal, took a cab to Dragon Hostel(about hkd40). Ask them to stop at near/in front of sincere house.
Check-in, relax and go out to Ladies Market(only 5min away walking)

Day 2 update later tongue.gif
